Plug and Play Ticket Bandits

Postby Joeyshendle » Wed Mar 21, 2012 12:48 pm

I have watched the "plug and play" discussion video and I am sick. I am left wondering; How many of the 10,000 remaining tickets are going to Plug and Play "Theme Camps?". The fact that 10,000 tickets are going to one group of burners rather than all burners does not seem fair, but if the tickets go to Plug and Play Camps, BM has turned into a radically exclusive event.

How does allowing tickets to go to PnP camps make it radically exclusive?

I'm hoping the negative attention focuses on people who use their first post to start (redundant) ticket solution threads in the tickets forum.

I suppose since they are giving tickets to ANY theme camp makes it exclusive, not just PnP. Perhaps more fees will fix it right?

Is there any actual evidence that these "radical entitlement camps" are getting tickets? Remember, the llc is giving the opportunity to buy tickets to members of camps (as well as crucial voluteers) that have a proven track record of contributing to the burn. So, if a RE camp has contributed enough that the llc thinks it should be out there, either it has a dual nature and can be both, or it is selling out this year while the going's good. In either case, I don't think there's much of a problem. To be sure, with an allotment of 10,000 tickets most of us can find some we consider "misawarded", but that doesn't mean that they are substantially going to those who will use their powers for ill. (There are always going to be some glitches. At a certain point you just go 99% is good enough.)

My camp got a small number of tickets.

When Placement called, ther referred to our camp plans, our "theme", our participation and acculturization plans, and SPECIFICALLY our LNT record. We weren't even there last year, but they called -me- and asked what we needed to get to the playa.

Personally, I'm "sick" of disgruntled individuals who didn't win the lottery acting like we're some sort of elistist 1%er friend of Larry Harvey just because since 2005 we've committed ourselves to adhering to LNT principles and teaching them to others...years BEFORE there was every any idea of tickets selling out. I've never met a member of the Org, and I met a placer in 2005, and another in 2010 but we wouldn't be able to pick each other out from a lineup if our lives depended on it.

In response to your wonderment, though; I don't think any P&P camps got tickets unless they were interactive, had a good LNT history and a lot to offer the city. To many collaborative projects and other things out there who needed them and have much more to give back to the city.

Yes, yes we are. Especially in regard to cherry blossoms.

Yes, it was the cherry blossoms I was concerned about.

And Donald Duck. How is it that Disney tolerates shirt-cocking by its employees?

Well, technically it's "shirt cloacking" (from cloaca--if I"m spelling it right.) No "cock" to be seen. And he's covering up his nipples, which he doesn't have not being a mammal. All in all, it's confusing for a fish...

they'll simply support the secondary market aka scalpers. when money's not an object who cares how much the ticket costs? i doubt any of the 10,000 are going to these radically other reliant camps or else it's time for all of us to bail on this whole thing.
believe it or not every burner from new york doesn't reside in the chity. there's all this green space up north you may've heard about

the burn didn't blow my mind. it reinforced the way i've always lived my life

Perhaps the best place to comment on or ask questions about the Plug & Play camping discussion is in that thread.

What video are you referring to in the OP?

I think it's the video in trilo's opening post for the plug and play camp thread (in 2012 theme camps subforum).
