OP, you've got to have some perspective here. You came into a community of people with a long record here, who have seen this post before, every year I'm sure, from folks ranging from the genuinely interested to the downright stupid. You're also posting a question which (had it not been already rehashed over and over through years past) is a little unseemly. Burning Man is not a place to go if all you're looking for is sex. I don't assume that's all you're after, but not knowing you and only seeing this one thread from you, and your over-the-top defensive reactions to some snarky ribbing, leads one to the impression that this is a stop along a sex tour for you or something to that effect.

The jokes and snark, I would think, should be expected even if this weren't a time-worn topic. Eplaya isn't Adult Friend Finder or a local swinger/polyamory website, it's a place related to Burning Man. Burning Man isn't a swingers convention or sex industry event. Burners are an open minded lot, many of them with a wide and varied background. Obviously swing and sex talk is not a shocking topic, but it's also not a lifestyle to most Burners, in my opinion. Please take the snark and pokes and snide remarks with a grain of salt, knowing that probably most people in here have at least an open minded attitude about alternate sexual practices, if not direct experience with them. If you have any real world experience with swing then you know it's not generally a truly open minded group of people involved but rather a narrowly defined group with a lot of taboos and repressions of their own to work out. I think you're making the mistake of taking the snark you're receiving as being hate for your topic, when it looks to me like it's directed at your expectation that cruising eplaya for sexy hookups is something that should be welcomed.

Remember, you wandered into an already long established group of people with their own community. That community may have some experience with folks who come in randomly looking for sex, therefore a little tact might be wise.

If someone makes a personal attack or resorts to name calling, flag the post (triangle with an exclamation point, upper right corner of the message window). Looking through the thread what I see is that there were a number of sarcastic remarks in response to a really groan-tastic question (really? single guy turning up on a public message board and asking where the swingers camps are?), and you responded by hurling personal insults. Do not sink to their level (or go below it).

Nevertheless, good luck connecting with a camp.
