There are 2 things I feel are overrated at BM: Drugs and Sex. BRC just has so much to do, so many things to explore that taking anything has me feeling I'm going to miss out on stuff. I don't want to trip for 8-12 hours, that's 8-12 hours of lost opportunity to meet more people and do more interesting stuff. And the sex...well, playa dust can be a real mess to deal with, I'll just leave it at that. And it's hell on the knees too if you slip off a blanket or something.

Love-mud washes up. Knees will heal--but if they don't somebody had sex worth commemorating with scars.

Abstinence, however, is its own punishment.

I'd go farther and say that those two things are overrated in life in general. They're just the most popular vehicles used for chasing momentary brushes with the transcendence that we humans long for.

I have to agree, I was given about $70 bucks worth of drugs in exchange for a beautiful pair of poi I made, and I gave all the drugs away. The only gift I needed was that the girl who got them loves them. My friends who I came with chewed me out for it, but you know, exept for say, caffine to stay awake and see it all, I did not need drugs at burning man. Fortunately, one of the members of our camp was a Red Bull Exec and gifted us 30 cases.

Desert Duck, Head of recycling camp, I have no idea why I find him sexy, I USUALY hate facial hair, body hair, guys more than 5 years older than me, Agro guys, but just the way he says "leave no trace" is a turn on.

Rene and His girlfriend from my camp, Not fair really, cuz I have had a crush on them 4 a long time, but she was naked and he was half naked all week, I was glad I had mirrored goggles so they couldnt see me leering at them all week, then I went out with them one night with the goggles off and Rene was all like "Why are you looking at me like that!?" and I was like "I have been looking at you like that all week!" I should probably be embarrased to post this but I am so not, partialy because I know they are pollys, . and have had a few hints the feelings are mutual including a very sexy kiss from giana the night of the burn, and even if they aren't mutual, well, they are some damn beautiful people, inside and out.

I find him sexy too - I had a wacky run in with him this year and *almost* got brave enough to mack on him a bit. I brought in pre-crushed cans and gifted him some vodka. I tell ya, the guy looked at me like I'd be good for dinner. It felt like a pretty sexy moment.

yeah, hard to name them all. in such a venue where everyone can truly be themselves, we all become like gods and godesses, so easy to fall in crush. i would like to mention a girl that i fell 10 worlds for at sol system, sunday morning, sunrise. the girl in all pink with red hair and the cutest little top-hat on. some of us from the black rock boutique were joined up on team swift that morning (don't ask) and we befriended her and her boy in green (just as cute but not my flavor). i was a little too trippin to converse with her but she will stay with me forever in my heart. the cutest ever ever and her dancing simply took me away. to be there again, dancing with her, the best dream ever at the climax of all my dreams in one. burningman 2003!!!! when fantasy and reality merged...

Hah! It was a gift - though I don't think either of us knew it at the moment.

Apparently the sexy bit was that they were **all** pre-crushed, and I got to take credit for it (though actually I tried not to. "They're from a friends bar" I said. This, apparently, was even sexier. It was a weird/great moment.)

Note to all - precrushed cans and gifts of booze go over pretty well at recycle camp.

it's too bad, MMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there was this guy in college that was a bike mehanic and he was like kind of an ugly dude, but he had this mechanical metal brute force dirty oil thing going on that was yummy as hell... Same deal with recycling camp, desert duck is a kinda cute guy, but add that to the atmosphere and environment and you have a ROCK STAR! I miss that guy. I'm gonna call him if I get time.

Just heard back from my main BM crush, I tell ya that femme *glowed*, like you could have read a book while standing next to her even if it was in a mineshaft at midnight during a blackout. Frickin GLOWING! And the electric spark when I shook her hand, it was like Cupid's Taser.... I was so overwhelmed and stammering I think I said I was "meat to please you" rather than "pleased to meet you".

Anyway, we're in contact now and I'm over the moon for it. And the fact she's about as far away from me on this big blue marble as one can get is not going to phase me in the least. Just got to make sure I don't start electronically humping her leg or anything and scare her off.

it's been my personal experience that the farther away they are, the more in sync you are. my personal advice for not scaring her away? remember that glow she had? can you keep that fixed in your mind? everytime you communicate with to her - imagine her standing there next to you, suffused in light.

ymmv - go ask the chimp how he does it.

Ha, I usually form crushes on girls who work in bike shops. We brought a few inner tubes down to the bike repair shop and invited people to the bar. Two showed up, both newbies. I had a crush on the girl 'cuz she's also a bike messenger who likes the buzz you get from mixing it up with traffic.
