Next year: non-transferable tickets?

I believe non-transferable tickets is the way to go, sold first-come, first-served.

If someone can’t go, they can only sell it back to bmorg (or via bmorg), which will sell it and transfer the name.

This should eliminate issues from...
*scalpers (as they can’t transfer to buyers)
*people buying more tickets than they need (to ensure they get a ticket)
*people not getting tickets unless there is a true shortage (and they likely didn’t prepare and buy when they went on sale)

This would turn the gates into a massive will-call, but they could do like i’ve seen for concerts.
*Have multiple entrances and/or more lanes
*Front gate staff would have PDAs with scanners
*Burners would have printed receipts with barcodes
*barcode is scanned
*it brings up the individuals names for verification
*disables that barcode for future use
*staff verifies identity, and allows entrance

Any other ideas? Improvements on logistics of it?

I don't know if you even need to go so high tech as barcodes and scanners. I think simply printing the buyer's name on the ticket and at the gate all people must show a picture id along with their ticket to the person collecting the tickets would work.

Totally agree with the OP. Despite BM's reluctance to go the non-transferable route, I think it is inevitable and will happen, maybe next year.
