Annular Eclipse on Black Rock Desert May 20 2012

There is going to be an Annular Eclipse of the sun visible from the Black Rock Desert Next Spring, Sunday May 20th, late afternoon.
Any posible inspirations, Burners?

Does that mean you can only see the sun from your butthole? Kause I stuck some stuff up there with the intent of not letting the sun shine on it.

Yes sticking it where the sun won't shine becomes easier. Playa included.

yeah, that's what I meant........very subjective, depending on winter. The nice thing is, there's lots of areas just above the playa, so, if it's standing water, there's still places to go hang out.

I'm sure, the BLM would have no issue with you taking a canoe.......but, please, let us know when you do it.

You might be better off with a hoovercraft. Watch out for eels.

And, as I understand it, the lake doesn't cover the entire surface.

Hovercraft or some kind of swampboat might be the best route. Depth could vary greatly (seasonal lake.. could be waist-deep, knee-deep, or ankle-deep puddles) plus lots and lots of sticky gooey mud. Still, I think there are hiking trails in the mountains that ring the playa, aren't there?

dang it!! I wanted to see him launch and paddle a canoe in ankle deep water with sticky mud............

yes, there are plenty of roads and trails, in the area. Anything above the "salt line" should be plenty firm.

The only lincoln, I liked better, was a MkIII. I had, at a point a 69 MkIII, that I restored........490 CID...........dang was it a bomb!!! Loved that car.

Marscrumbs, thanks for the headsup! I'm a long way from Nevada, but an annular eclipse is certainly intriguing. Not sure I can afford to venture out there twice this year, but at least it is on my radar now. Maybe this thread will become more active as we get closer to May.

... and don't forget to pencil in August 21, 2017 on your calendar..
