Ah! That piece was SO cool to watch people interact with ... props to the creators of the COG and to Camp Envy for giving us a peek!

It wasn't called The COG…. I believe it was titled Exsuscitare Traiectus, by Orion Fredericks of Oakland, CA. There's a cool making-of video on Orion's site that shows the projects original concepts as well as some of the work that went into building it.

If anyone sees a photo of a man standing on top of The Cog/Exsuscitare Traiectus, please let me know. I know someone who scaled it . . . before noticing the large "Please do not climb" sign on the back.

Actually, even the Uchronians (the Belgian crew that built it) called Uchronia 'the Waffle.' Great bunch of people, I think by the time I'd met them (the day before the event opened in 2006) they'd been out in the sun a bit too long (weeks), and they laughingly insisted that they be referred to as 'belgiums' and their structure be known as 'the waffle.' A portion of that team was on the playa in 2011, they built a Uchronian looking mutant vehicle that got torched on either Monday or Tuesday, if I remember correctly.

It was pretty annnoying in the chat ... endless copy/paste of COG and cog cog cog cog, etc.

It was latched onto and humorous banter was had, but there were people trolling with it over and over disrupting the chat.

Yeah, pretty sure most of the endless cog stuff on the Camp Envy ustream was trolling.

There was humorous banter which was a great appropriation of what I thought was trolling, but a lot the chat was derailed by it ... especially the copy/paste stuff. That was just my take, though.

The Cog was an icon for those of us in Camp Envy. Those of you that didn't get tickets in the lottery...you will understand someday. I bow down to the Cog!

Personally, I think that fire/steam/mist/water would have ruined the whole thing.

Heck, if that thing shot water out of its nozzles, we would have seen stinky hippies taking showers in it. Hmm...well, maybe water would have been cool...

I found out the name of the game that was getting the kids all hyped about the COG. It's called Gears of War and the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG) is a central aspect.



The kids crusing through UStream saw the COG and messaged their freinds. Pretty soon, the chat was full of:
