Where have you found is the place or places to buy cheap booze? Have you ever found anywhere on line? How about coupons? I Plan on bringing about 10-20 bottles with.

I Agree with you BBadger, I always end up bringing back the hard stuff. I like Gin & Tonic for myself, but found bars don't want tonic water. What mixers are the most popular on the playa ? ? ? ? ?

Pretty much how it always goes in my experience. On tuesday I was down to powdered gatorade to mix into my vodka with water. YUM!!!

I read somewhere if you want to serve juice that you have to have a food vendors permit. That may be why? Not sure. But I will make sure to stock up on pop. I REALLY want to bring Jungle Juice and Apple Pie with me.
I will tell you... Cake Vodka I think is the gift from the gods! Pineapple Juice, Grenadine and Cake vodka.. Taste just like upside down Pineapple cake!

But yeah please fill me in what is good booze to bring with? This will be my first year and want to make some friends out there. Im kinda "shy" meaning its some what hard to just go up and talk to people. If they come up to me im fine.

hmmmm pineapple upside down cake drink. I love pineapple upside down cake and I love vodka, but together kinda frightens me. I'm game to give it a try though. I'm sure I'll forget all about it by next year but I'd love to stop by for a taste.

Sam's Club liquor store is awesome and cheaper than anything else I've found.

$9 handles of Popov, $16 handles of Svedka, $27 handles of in-house "Grey Goose". I pretty much only drink vodka if I'm doing liquor, but there's a comparison for you. The other types are along those pricing lines too.

Tonic water is just awesome with ice as a drink. So refreshing! If you left some at our bar I'd certainly make use of it.

Actually just yesterday I had this talk with someone about mixers on the playa and how there's always a shortage of them. Why dont bars just bring a shit ton of koolaid or other powdered drinks and an abundance of water? I'll take some red koolaid and vodka over ice any day out there.

IMHO the two best powdered drink mixers are "Incrediberry" Koolaid and Country Time lemonade. Ones got the sweet, the other the tart.

Pineapple juice and limeade are great mixers as well. Never thought about powdered drinks, alcoholic or not. That sounds good, and I can't believe I didn't think to have any during the burn.

our tipple this year was cheap vodka, it was like $7.00 for the bottle with Redbull, we had never drank it before and it wasn't planned, but we drank a glass or two to start the evening every day.

We mixed up a couple gallons of tang and vodka for our camp and it was quite good as long as it was cold - tasted pretty vile when warm.

As I read the guidelines, a health permit is required if you're serving fresh juice (since it requires safe handling and clean food prep areas, etc). If you are serving things that are commercially pre-packaged and not temperature sensitive (ie pre-packaged juices sold off-the-shelf), no permit is needed.

On the cheap side, surf the sales/deals at places like BevMo, Costco, and local boozy distributors. In some areas, grocery stores are even known to have some great deals from time to time. Bonus points if you're able to surf deals and make it work to get something a step above the bottom-feeder hooch.

What are prices like at Smart & Final?

Smart and Final is about the same a Von's or Rite Aid.

We came home with a case of Clamato Bloody Mary Mix and a case of Cuervo Margarita Mix. Rudra makes the best Mojitos and a wide variety of martini's along with all the common well drinks. I still have 4 bottles of absinthe and 6 bottles of limoncello. The Chambord disappeared,,,, funny how that happens.

We gave away almost a case of 2-buck-chuck and half a case of Limoncello. Monday and Tuesday after close, we had a sign up on the street, "Have Booze Need Smokes" that brought in some folks who struck camp right when that accident on I-80 caused a SEVEN HOUR drive to pavement. BMIR was telling everybody, but we were telling everyone who passed by in a loaded vehicle.

We not only got smokes Monday night, but a gourmet chef to prepare us some marvelous vittles from the left over shit in our coolers. PLUS they helped us finish striking camp the next day! Only on the playa.

Canned and bottled juices are fine to serve without needing a permit. trilobyte is correct about serving fresh fruits or even celery sticks in Bloody Mary's. Canned olives and onions are okay with martini's. No lime wedge with that gin & tonic unless you have a permit.

IIRC, shipping was quick and even with shipping the Chambord was about $4 per bottle cheaper than anywhere else.
