By the time I make that final turn onto the Playa I have quite a full bladder...so I head directly to the Porta-Potties...but I am stopped by the aweness of the Blank Slate that is the Playa, the structures off in the distance, the Gate Folks just up ahead and I start to tear and feel so '@ HOME'...I start to rub Playa on my arms and legs, become 'One' with the dust and THEN go and Pee...

Well, since I'm a newbie, I'm probably just going to stand there and stare with my mouth open until my tongue starts getting coated in dust and then I'll close my mouth and continue staring in awe.

After that I'm sure much exploring will occur.

I dunno about this year, but last year, Naked Bruce was the greeter on duty when i arrived. He asked me if i had been to BM before and I said yes and he had a very sad look on his face. It was before the event was offically open (I was working on a theme camp) and they weren't getting very many first timers and he was a little disappointed about that.
So I told, "I can pretend to be a virgin, how about that? What would you do?"
And he said, "I would give you a naked hug!"
So I replied, "Okay," and I started to take my shirt off. He started to reach over to hug me through the car window.
I shook my head and told him to wait, jumped out of the car, stripped off all my clothes and gave him a giant bear hug. I mean, what's the point of a naked hug if you're not completely naked, right?

I then proceeded to drive to my camp completely naked and find all my friends and give them naked hugs.

Unload the bikes and take a ride out to the man. Then check out some of the Esplanade and Center Camp before riding back to setup everything else.

I'ma ninny who cries everytime I arrive. This year, after wiping up, off to greet my 35 other campmates, then off to meet David Best for the first time and get officilly branded a Temple Guardina, Yay!

I always stop at that spray-painted 'Welcome to Burningman' sign at the entrance, just as you leave the blacktop. I pull over, stop the car and get out. I look back at the default world and say, "Man, that sucked." When the year-in-review is over, I'm ready to go.

Find a quiet place to attack my man whom I haven't had contact with for about a week. Then mosey over to Gate Camp and catch up on the latest gossip, hear about things like Early Man and the casualty list from DPW. Wait for our theme camp friends to show so we can start setting up. Turn in early so I can be up before the sun to welcome people home and get them moving towards the Greeters before traffic starts piling up. It's fun to be the first contact people have with the City. I tend to get a contact high from it.

Well in the past it has always been to break out the bike and take a first of many rides out to the man, around the esplanada to come to the realization I am home, and then back to set up camp. But this year straight to find Ivy for that naked hug.

One of those hugs from Ivy does sound pretty good...

I think the first thing is breaking out the blender for the first round of playa margaritas, then unload the Playa Cruiser from the trailer.
Then, off to find my friends at Costco, the Post Office, and everywhere!

Get the shade up. Get the tents up. Find some random activity and for the rest of the evening, chase whatever's really shiny in close proximity to me.

I send you all tidings of good arrival weather! Not too cold, not too hot and just a light breeze. That should do the trick!

Travelling 2000 miles, a 5 mph average speed difference will mean I my arrival time could be anytime of the day - which really changes what I'll do when I first get there. But most likely I'll go straight to setup parts of the camp, setup shade, then to the Artery to be taken to my site to start setting up my playa art. Although I'll probably find my girlfriend and ....er.... "say hi" first.
She's arriving quite a few days before the event opens to the public to help setup and work at the box office. I have to go to the office - until Friday (and pay bills before I leave).

If we make it out, the first thing I'm going to do is take pictures. Right at the edge of the playa. Then with the greeter. Then as we pull into town. Then I'll get out and hop around a bit, then do a cartwheel, then set up camp.
