Congratulations, everybody! If you're able to read this message without the assistance of a medium, you managed to survive what was quite possibly ePlaya's craziest year yet! Some of it was crazy in a bad way, and some of it was crazy in a good way, but in the end it was one hell of a wild ride. Despite tickets selling out and the madness that ensued, I think we (as a community) helped get a lot of people connected, and over the course of the year (slow part and busy part) helped an incredible number of people get just a little better prepared than they might have been otherwise.
Speaking of numbers, let me share a couple with you. Previously, the busiest 'busy season' (July/August) was 2010, where we grew by 1,968 new members. This year, in the same period, our ranks grew by 4,967 (4,006 of which since the day after tickets sold out). Wow! And we hit a new peak concurrency on Monday the 22nd of August, when 673 people were logged into ePlaya simultaneously. The fun didn't stop with ticket madness - as of my starting this post, we've grown by 963 more new people since the start of September.
Of course, we were also getting pounded with ridiculous amounts of spam during much of this, thank you for putting up with that (as well as flagging it), as well as putting up with heightened levels of snarkiness and the occasional short temper or technical glitch.
