Party mess on deep playa, art?

I was wondering if anyone else saw the candle lit, covered, long section of tables with white table cloths and it looked like a model runway on the end. The tables were littered with beer cans, decorations, and plates with half eaten food on them. Was this someones art project or a big pile of moop? It was interesting to look at and wonder. Anyone have pictures?

I saw this being set up really late in the event . . . Wednesday or Thursday. I would really like to know what it was. The people setting it up looked really busy and cranky, so I didn't ask.

But my first thought was: "At long last--the Food Court!"

When we came upon it on Thursday afternoon,there was a lot peeps just sitting , chatting and drinking.It was a nice spot to catch your breath while exploring the deep playa. I didn't notice any moop at the time or any plates of half eaten food as art.

Kinda reminded me of the Last Super......

It was cleaner than you describe when I found it, but was still quite the mess. Empty bottles of (I think) Peligrino, and just a bunch of random garbage.

See...this part makes me sad. I think it was a wonderful concept and then it was ruined by leaving it a mess. (Unless it was cleaned up later by the organizer. I can't imagine putting that sort of effort into a project that was to receive national publicity and not take the small additional step of cleaning up after themselves.)

Yep, that was it! It must have been after everyone left when I saw it. The candles were still going and it was trashed. I did not see anyone there cleaning up. Glad a big gust of wind didn't come through.

I would have evicted everyone on the spot, just for the long table layout. Terribly hackneyed.

It's just sad that a) it turned out to be a marketing maneuver and b) they didn't even have the decency to clean up after themselves.

The same comment has been made for years now, every time an article or story appears in any mainstream publication.
Last I heard, Burning Man has managed to survive intact.

Don't boo the day tour buses, that's an important part of the relationship with the local community. The BMOrg provides day tours/art tours to seniors and I think a couple other segments of the regional population. I think there's a value in letting them see some of the amazing art and creativity at the event.

I didn't see many seniors in either of the two groups gathering in chairs around the busses. If they want to see our event and art they should get out and see it then, not sit in lawn chairs.

i dunno, i have a feeling that whatever the 230 hardworkin volunteers in my camp were eating night, it was probably better.... whatever night it was.... than the stuff these people got..

cuz ya know, we make our meals with love!!! real love, the kind that comes through the hard times and builds into friendships that feel more like families...
