We hit pavement at 3:30pm Monday and I counted 13 burner related automotive issues on 447 and 80. All were tire or axel related except for 1 roll over and 1 jack knifed trailer on 80. This tied my 2006 count. Obviously maintenance and safe driving are not burner strongpoints

Driving like an ahole on the 405...changing lanes with every opportunity, bypassing the entire line, and unsafely passing dozens of cars on 447 apparently is a strongpoint for some "burners".

If you use a 100 psi aircompressor w/ a wide tip 1/4 inch nozzle and spray down the outside and inside before any water (rain or fog) is applied, it works very well! Also, don't forget to change your vehicle's air filter and to wash down your radiator. Playa dust is about as fine as asbestos and is very corrosive to metal.

I've decided that Exodus is now the first of the Burning Man after parties.

Sorry, but complaining about Exodus is like complaining that it's hot or dusty.

I feel the same way, left Monday afternoon, got in line, dropped off a bunch of beer at DPW, mixed up some cold drinks, met our Exodous neighbors, made a kite and flew it, boyfriend jumped two cars, tried out my Go-Girl for the first time. It took about six hours but it was six hours of funtimes.

Or find a good local hand wash car place. Our vehicle has seriously never looked so clean.

We left Monday at 7:40 pm and it took 5 hours. At least with the surge style, my friend driving could snooze between the surges. I did have to go wake up a guy in another car when he nodded off and had no co-pilot. Even when you expect a long exodus, it is brutal. I can't believe BMORG wants to increase participaiton to 70,000. Maybe they will have to sell tickets with a pre-determined exit date. Sunday - Monday - Tuesday - you buy for the day you want to leave. Tuesday could be less expensive to encourage people to stay, however I noticed none of the portajohns had TP on Monday, so staying until Tuesday you'd have to have your own stock.

Its about preparation, and Exodus prep goes unlooked and weve never dealt with such a wait before. I think we'll be better prepared next year. I know I will, heck I might even stay til Tuesday.

Next year I will:
~Pack a small cooler full of food and drinks for the front seat of my truck so I dont have to dig into the back.
~Spray Bottle again, that was key to not overheating.
~Sarong dipped in cooler water draped over my driving arm (because all the sunblock in the world wont cut that sun sometimes)
~LEAVE WITH FRIENDS....Caravan! I feel like we could of had a blast in line together. I was all alone. I met some cool peeps though. However I did write 10 pages of Playa Poetry (dont barf! haha)
~Have air filter handy to change when I hit pavement
~Make kickass playlists or comps of lyrical introspective heady music. This is the perfect time to sing some heartfelt sentimental lyrics! If you do some research you will pick something that has a lot of secret playa meanings. There is a lot of good new music like indie rock stuff with really cool lyrics that make you feel at peace with the BMan experience. TV on the Radio, New Pornographers, My Morning Jacket, Fleet Foxes, LCD Soundsystem were just a few of my choices. After a week of having fun with the untz untz it really sounds different and good. And you dont hear it much out there (unless you come by my camp so it takes on a more personal birds eye view of your week.
At least it does for me...
~OR listen to BMIR radio. I do both.
~Have any cool swag left, keep it up in front. I passed out a bunch more man stickers I made and that was fun.
~Write by yourself in a notebook during a pulse wait. While the memories are still fresh, jot em all down.
~PEE JUG with PEE FUNNEL
~CAFFEINE!
