GIFTED: FREE TICKET GIFT!!!

Postby SuperCraig2005 » Fri Aug 19, 2011 7:20 pm

SuperCraig here. It's my 6th Burn and 2nd year as a BRC Ranger. I missed last year and that was horrible, so I'm even more thrilled to return Home VERY soon. I'm really excited to say that I have an extra ticket to GIFT some lucky participant. Every year I buy an extra ticket with the intention to gift it to someone in need, but I never imagined it would be as big a deal as it is this year!

I created a contest for folks to win the ticket. It's a three day contest: 8/20-8/21. Check out the details here: http://supercraig.com/goto/bm_ticket

Tell your friends!!

Have fun and best of luck!!

It's a nice gesture, don't get me wrong, but it seems a little like hoop jumping for a prize. Before this scarcity gifting tickets without demands was the norm. I did it, people did it for me. So much has changed this past month.

It's a nice gesture to offer your extra ticket for free, but with people so desperate at the last minute, why not make it more humane for someone to get the ticket. There is no need to tease and taunt people for the ticket.
You put a lot of time into your ticket contest, but just give it away and make someone's day.

Every year I buy an extra ticket and quietly give it to someone who needs it. The idea is to be kind to someone without expecting something in return.

Hey, I gotta say, I kinda agree. I looked at the site and I'm just not feeling the "make a video" thing. Just tonight, a female friend said that I looked like a model and said her male friend agreed, but I think I look terrible on video, so that's my issue. but also, feels too much "Burner dating service." Been trying since 2 days after the sellout: to buy one while staying within Burner ethos (I'll pay anything reasonable, but not ANYTHING, even if I CAN afford it), contests, other sites, even someone I know's scalper connection who's promised to get him "any ticket for anything, free" (THAT would be a hell of a coup, to get a scapler to release one of these trapped, rare, endangered tickets "back into the wild" for free, and I could donate what I would have paid to a project), so far, no joy.

Still a few twists yet to turn; maybe it'll happen, and I've had fantasies of 2 bearing fruit at the same time and being able to help one of these poor souls without. Maybe one of the many "worthy" cases I've seen on the boards, maybe a virgin who had lost all hope. Your ticket, do what you want, but there are so many, and the gift means so much more than ever this year, you prob could just pick one and convince them of the magic in the saying, "The Playa will provide."

I don't doubt you will get some takers. If I needed a ticket and this was a few weeks ago, I might have done it. With time just about gone, I can't waste time on a video now. But heck, I can waste time posting to this thread.

Kudos for girting a ticket this year!

I have to disagree here and with the persons replying negatively because SC isn't just giving or selling the ticket away. Frankly this seems like the best way to do it since the people who would actually go through these steps probably really need tickets for themselves. This is also a contest so it doesn't really have to stop you from looking for other tickets you can afford in the meantime. If you find a ticket to buy and then get this gift ticket the good thing to do would be to decline the gift so it could go to someone else who competed. If you win and haven't bought a ticket at that time then it was well worth the effort of the contest.

And frankly a gift ticket is not something anyone has an obligation to give away, let alone to someone who hasn't done anything for the gifter. It's not barter or trade or a hoop to jump through here, it's asking for participation in the burner community at large to make sure the ticket is going to someone who deserves it. How else could he feel comfortable giving it to a stranger.

If you're not interested in participating... don't.

People have gifted tickets through raffles or contests in years past. They just had less attention, since there was no locust cloud of ticket seekers. Please don't be the jerk who gets all whiney because it's not enough someone's offering a chance to get a free ticket in exchange for a little creativity.

Silly Eplaya tards are ready to jump down the throat of everybody who posts to vent their internal negativity. even somebody trying to give a ticket to a stranger instead of one of many, many friends who probably need one. Kudos brother and may you be blessed. Glad I only seem to run into wonderful peeps on the playa.

Yeah!

I won two tickets to Gaia Festival recently by putting together a music video for a contest. I was stoked and had a great time

Still, for those who are reading this thread, you probably don't have a ticket and my heart goes out to you.

I hope it works out but if it doesn't, you can take consolation with this video
