i just found out from a camp mate that he has been googlestalked by a woman he met on the playa. he didn't mind, but i wonder about other stalkees? or you stalkers -- any success?

i see nothing creepy about it at all. it's a good way to check out someone you've just met. why is it stalking? curiousity is more like it, i think...

Well, stalking implies obsession, IMO.

If you're obsessed with yourself, I think that there are other terms for that condition.

it's hard not to be obsessed with oneself. afterall, we live herein. it's the only true perspective we have (well, most people have some perspective of the Self one hopes), despite our valiant attempts to walk that mile in another's shoes...but that's another thread altogether i think. Wait, gotta go google myself again....just in case i accomplished something i forgot about....

Oh my god, I might be the stalker. I didn't realize that people could tell if someone has looked them up - obviously. Is it true? I just wanted to pass on some info to this person - I meant no stalker harm. What is this person's name? Or is this more stalking? Hee-hee. Peace and Joy!!!

For the most part they cant tell. There are exceptions though. If you type in a name and see a page and go to it, that page could have a counter on it. said counter may offer statistical information. said statistical information might include information on how they ended up on that page....

so for the most part they will never know. But it is possible.

I google myself all the time.

I just type in what I call a free association mindset, sometimes do a spell check and just hit submit. What you see is what you get, and I screw up the grammar a lot. Most people still get my points, and I'm #3 on the top 10 posters list on here so I've got lots of posts out there. And I've had a lot of good replies so having some questionable grammar is no big deal.
