TGI friday had little sense of humour about it.

We got some crank calls.

These were full page shots.
You could miss the guy in the gutter completely.
It's not like those clubs don't have hookers.

A newspaper I worked on ran a pictorial of highly popular, overly hip night spots with people posed as hookers and one with a drunk lying in the gutter in front.
There were some complaints.

The Black Rock Gazette? Didn't they just boilerplate everything months ahead of time?

Where would the gutter be on the playa anyway?

Art is the act of looking at something in a new way.
This applies to the viewer as well as the creator.

There are jewels in all sorts of nooks and crannies in the city.
Many are missed.
Seek those out.
Let the artists know when they get it right.
Sometimes it's more kind to let them know when they aren't understood, than say nothing.

Help other spectators understand how it all works.
Just like art, it isn't all intuitive.

The biggest thanks I ever got at burning man wasn't for working somewhere, but for visiting someone's project early in the week.
They recognized me later in the week.
I'm not sure what I said or if I made suggestions, though I might have.

Many artists feel lost in all the big stuff out there.
The artists of the big stuff need honest responses too.

Play the games.
See the show.
Take the ride.

Sometimes the least flashy presentations are the best things out there.

Everyone needs good spectators for their projects.


Not part of this, but learn when to drop your plans and realize you're in the best place you could be.

It's just how I've always behaved with artists.


I often get in big fights with them, because I know absolutely nothing about art.
Later I often get asked my opinion, because they know I won't bullshit them if I don't like something.

the act of going deep playa, usually during a night with little or no moon, and generally under the influence of some hallucinogen, and probably naked, as to become one with the stars. Because of the non-distinct horizon of the blackness, you feel like you're walking thru space.

Blamestorming. The result of non-burners that failed to get a ticket in time trying to find someone else than themselves to blame, I imagine it will have other applications but its to good a word not to add.
