Agreed. I think the YouTube embeds gave a good amount of flavor and depth to the boards, in addition to being helpful at times.

yeah.......it was a nice way, at least for me, to inject humor or levity into conversations......maybe some music or something.
I didn't think it banged a CPU until you clicked on it. Am I wrong? my computer is 6 years old, and seemed to handle it all just fine.
But, I suppose we can all just move along without........listening to and talking with others, is just fine....even crusty furniture has a lot of great things to add........I just miss the option.

Mine is newer, and I did something with firefox that resulted in non-auto video streaming. I like it actually. Damned if I know what I did, it was over a year ago.

I use aChrome extension called FlashBlock that gives me an option of clicking or not clicking to see flash content. Blocks tons of ads and just puts a gray forward button arrow in their place. Does the same for Youtube vids. It can be inconvenient at times, but the payoff is worth it.

Since it's working on spanky's post, I'm guessing it's a permissions issue. He's an admin, the rest of us aren't.

Though based on his post enabling it, it doesn't sound like he has a lot of experience with phpBB.

Yeah I looked thru the code of that post and it just shows the youtube url like it does when you try it here... I think we're missing a character or two in the buttons or something. Me not speak phpbb.

The code generated when I use the new youtube buttons looks nothing like the code surrounding the one that is working in spanky's post. Several parameters are missing...

BBD- use the "youtube" button when you post, not the URL button. It's at the end after font color.

OK I got it now, but it wasn't working before... now it appears to be working! Yay!! Thanks.

I had tried many different combos of things... I edited that post above a few times trying various arrangements of buttons and urls. Then ultimately went back and tried it the way I tried it the first time and voila... go figure
