It's the same kind of thing they do with canned goods. Those plastics can contain the BPAs you're trying to avoid, though you'd still need to heat those containers up a bit to cause any problems.

I'm about ready to give up on this thread, all I wanted to do was start a discussion about this issue, and the politics involved. The regulation on this entire industry is a joke, that was the point.

The water supplie line in most US citys are up to 100 years old..

Even if you live in a new part of town.. The water runs through the old town first..

Some of the water mians in Portland Or. are still the wooden ones from way back when.. You may as well be drinking out of the creek.

Plastic tube is nnow the new water lines to your new home.. Or a plastic liner is installed in your old iron water line..

Yeah, I figure it's like radiation (and I'm not being sarcastic), where you can be exposed to it for short periods and your body can clean it up. Anyway, something like 95% of people have detectable--but not necessarily harmful--amounts of BPAs in their system.

A can of soup over a camp fire (boiling over and catching on fire, and being left on a rock overnight only to cause a mouse to drown in it, in my case) once in a while won't be a problem.

Well your post was going okay at first until you started listing your hippie-esque solutions of completely abandoning all plastic bottles in lieu of metal and wood bottles.

For me, I could not care less about regulation in the water bottle industry because the concept of paying extra just to bottle essentially tap water (or from what you're saying, worse-than-tap-water) seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I even use the old joke of telling people that Evian water is just "Naive" backwards and for good reason.

On a related note, I remember one stuck-up newscaster on Channel 4 who proudly stated "oh I only drink bottled water" and was given a taste test between tap water and her bottled water--and ultimately chose the tap water as tasting better. Owned bitch!

Having had a variety of aquariums over the decades, I've used the same PLASTIC 5-gallon jugs for years. The fish survive, so I figure going to the nearest vending machine which refills these bottles for $1 each with R/O filtered water should be good enough for drinking in BRC.

We have the cooler-type tap for these bottles and anyone is welcome to fill the VESSEL OF THEIR CHOICE. Now I prefer to use a container which weighs nearly nothing when empty because water is the MOST GRAVITATIONALLY BLESSED substance we bring to the playa.

Metal gets dents which decrease the volume of the vessel. Wood is especially heavy after soaking enough water to remain leak proof. At least with a translucent PLASTIC vessel I can determine if there is unwanted mold, mildew or algae growing inside.

I actually lived THREE YEARS on creek water. Other than my enormous dick, I cannot determine any other side effects.

RO water is pretty good water!
There is one of those drinking water refill places that my father in law takes his big 5 gallons to. I didn't know all they use is R/O water, until he had me run his empty jugs over their one day, so he could pick them up on his way home.
I used to work next to a fish store, and they sold R/O water too. But the fish store R/O water was 2/3 the price of the drinking R/O water from a place 3 miles away.
I don't have any idea what R/O water is. But form what I do understand we have really hard water in Denver, and something about the Reverse Osmosis process is supposed to be one of the best way to treat hard water.

Just priced a 5 gal water jug..

I've had a hand pump for one around for a couple years..

Looks like an easy way to handel camp water..

So for me 15 gal. for the week.. 5 in the water jug, 5 in the Igloo cooler and 5 inthe hot water bag. Might throw in a 2 1/2 gal suitcase for just in case..
