Wow! Lotsa input!

The fittings on the all black iron pipe poUfer (hows that?)are schedule 40.
That one is a proof of concept model, not the final release.
Sch 40 fittings are rated @ around 125PSI. there is a safety factor of 2 plus an additional 100PSI surge pressure. Brings us to 350PSI. The maximum pressure I've seen on my setups is ~90PSI. the average pressure is down at 40-50PSI.
In the mat'l science & engineering dept I worked in, sch 40 was used up to 210 PSI on argon, helium, nitrogen, and TIG mixes.

Ok. All that said, My standard in the current application is what the FST says it is. If they say 80, 80 it is.

The ice machine crap is not for permanent use. If used for more than a test firing it's going to be replaced with 1/4" stainless thickwalled tubing using swagelock compression fittings as on Grizelda, the first poUfer.

I have some marvelous industrial regulators UL listed and rated for H2, MAPP, Propane, CO, and a whole bunch of other gasses. Can't remember the brand but I'll put something up later. Pulled as prime from a bulk CO2 distribution manifold.

I'm meeting up w/ EspressoDude in a bit. Seeing as he's built, and operated on the playa, the FOGx family of fire spewing monsters, he is a subject matter expert and will be strip mined for information as such.

It looks like yellow tape to, me. Perhaps it depends on the monitor settings or dick has some kind of white stuff clouding his one eye.

yes I'm an engineer and would spec sch 40 for these pressure ranges in the default world. However the guidelines call for 80. Remember that these are also subjected to a rough and tumble lifestyle and some other forces such as long overhangs and jetting.

Just like with construction it doesn't matter what common sense, practice or even the regs say, its what passes the inspectors eye that really matters.

Also we always run the pilot flame to a seperate gas source. when you get heavy on the flames and things get cold the pressures start to drop you sometimes won't have enough to keep that flame up.

Firefox, you're on the right track, but needs a few adjustments, feel free to PM me and we'll talk about it. But most importantly if you plan on using it on the Playa it NEEDS to be sch 80 or turn down the pressure via a regulator (who wants to do that?). And either way you MUST use yellow gas rated tape, not the white kind, good catch OED.

Between espresso dude, OED, and I ,surely you'll be getting some great hard learned tips. Although you might watch out if OED tells you "its just the tip"

I'd have to say, I'm sort of living a "childhood" (relatively speaking) fantasy of building my own castle, although, my castle (Hof) is only as big as I can build myself, thusly, small. But mighty!!

I guess I didn't put my shutters here:

Locking detail, one shutter sits in 3" channel saddle for lock.
all construction 1/4" or thicker, steel.

hinge pins: 3.5" dia. thick (1/2") walled drill steel

upper attachment assembly 6-3/4" through pins through 8" concrete walls.

hinge pins fit through, round bracket, final adjusted, and welded into place.

ground end of hinge mounts, drilled into walls and granite, then, 18" thick concrete poured to create monolithic bottom

I had to go out and get these pics, to finish (for now) the series:

outer (moveable, drill steel "pins" are stationary, these rotate on the outside) hinge pieces, with welding flanges in place, shutter flanges lap weld, with button welds in the field, and copper sheet between to stop torch/flame cutting
in the back, are the header attachment assemblies, and, shim stock, to not only align each side of the shutters (each window gets 4 shutters, to, bottom, left, right), but, to make a replaceable wear surface, in case alignment is lost due to wear or anything else.

shutter frames with 1.5" granite installed

shutter with flange detail, to weld to hinge flanges, button and with copper

shutters on pallets, ready to take up and install.

Yeah, Snow.......we did discuss some of that stuff, last year as I recall.

The main metal work is getting near the end of fabrication.
then install.....after that, I'll be getting back on some wood work, and, lots of stone.....stone floor and 6 or so inch stone siding, outside the block wall, wood paneling and stone(I hope) inside.

yup, it is horizontal drill steel, very hard and tough, seamless..........grin, I have the same idea......in fact, I think I can make it fit a soda can perfectly...............

eDude has a MIG. I have a vertical mill and a lathe.
Fun and dangerous things will be built.

Here's a project I did a while ago.
It languished in disarray for some time after
literally being dropped on its head.
Finally got around to fixin' him up.

Talking kids toy. Annoying voice speaks numbers when feet are pressed.
Also speaks what color the foot is.
Not good enough...

I removed the original voice module and replaced it with the voice module from a Beavis n Butthead talking remote control.

Looks pretty happy after that lobotomy, yes no?
Now he says "Blwwahhulluaaa, I am Cornholio!"
and "Don't make me kick your ass!".

hmmmm I have a really nice MIG welder and wish I had mill and a lathe to go along with it.

Today I'm working on getting flaming arrows not to blow out upon release. Its tougher to get this down then it looks.

And also modifying a recently paralyzed friends UTV for easier use.

I have a 300 amp, industrial rated (but old) Lincoln A/C welder, you can have. It needs one magnetic switch, either replaced or cleaned and fixed. Since getting my MIG, and already have a 250S portable, I just don't need it.
It's dang heavy, though. Probably weighs 300 or more lbs.
But, I swear it'll burn re-bar for rod.

Grizelda II

Replaced all tape with sexy yellow tape.
Added a fast kill ball valve below the pilot valve.
Up to five valves now. With tank connected, seven valves.
I'd read somewhere that the FST likes valves. And PBR.

Added a union for transport. (Teamsters!)
Swapped in a new gauge. 300 PSI is the new 400 PSI.
Grizelda II, now with 25% greater resolution!

Much happier now. Let's dance!

(Oh, the cute, it's killing me! Damn that's cute! Cute, cute, cute...)
