look, i know by now that this burn is over but for any greeters or wannabe greeters out there the keys are: Porta pottie rules, locations and landmarks, radical self reliance, radical self expression, leave no trace and radical inclusion.
That having said i have volunteered at greeters my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd years... unfortunately not my 4th...
My 1st year i was lucky enough to be camping with folks who had set up a "Camp Shift" @ the greeters station and not only did we work hard for 4 hours, we got to utilize the shade room, with air conditioning, to make grilled sandwiches for a lot of people with a electric sandwich griller!
My 2nd year was similar, however less dusty and more hot, so DO take lots of water and chapstick...
My 3rd year was @ night, on opening night cuz i had an early pass and was one of the best four hours of my life, fueled by beer but little else, i was eventually given a huge traffic wand by topless deb's daughter to direct traffic into lanes, slow people down, dance and still have tons of fun! Opening night is much more intense for sure so BE PREPARED!
other than that, prepare to get gifted...
and ps, learn to recognize dpw cars so that you don't slow them down....
