selling of gift tickets

so there was an individual who had 4 gift tickets he was selling for $300 pre event. i was wondering what the burner community feels about this.

I met several gentlemen who were locals that were gifted free (and low cost for family/friends/guests) tix. So apparently they still do it.

It was kind of funny, actually. I met this older man at the gas station in (Wadsworth I think? Tiny place). He told me he had a free ticket and low cost ones for his friends/family. I then saw him several days later coming through Greeters while I was greeting! Was kinda cool.

I think selling a gift is distasteful, but legal. In many locations selling a ticket for more than face value is illegal. Face value on a free ticket says "GIFT" on the stub.

Nevada has no scalping laws.

The ticket is meant as an invitation for good will to the locals and to maintain good relations. I say put their name on it at will call, they don't go thats entirely fine, but don't sell a ticket that says "GIFT" at the top.

Aside from locals, tickets issued by the Org to department workers that meet hours criteria also say "GIFT" on them when you receive them.

While it might seem like a gift from the ORG, it's really a loose sort of payment for 40+ hours worked for them....

Just sayin'...

I inquired about this as well and the official Org line is "it's frowned upon to sell them, even if you gift ticket was earned through hard work."

IF... you recive a gift ticket and can't go, return the gift ticket to the the person who gave it to you. Or sell it for no more than $150. I will not buy a "gift ticket" from anyone. It was not ment to be my gift.

"Gift" ticket ettiquete is generally that it's face value is worth the lowest common denominator, which is $160.
(low income/student scholarship/guest of local price)
To sell them for more than that is kinda wrong, but it is a free (enough) country, and others might be willing to pay what the ticket holder wants.

Unless things have changed, scholarship tickets can't be sold.

You contact the llc if you can't use them, so they can assign them to someone else.
They were much cheaper than other discounted tickets.

Your full value ticket is yours to do with what you please. Selling it for face value of less is acceptable. Selling the ticket that says gift is not. If you feel good giving away the full price ticket and can afford to do so, then do. If you need the gas money, sell it, there are always buyers for less than gate price tickets. If you can give a price break, do it.

You can also tell the BMORG to keep it as a miracle ticket.

well selling my full value ticket is a none starter because its at will call and i already changed the name (to mine)

not that i have a gift ticket or that i would sell it if i did. It would be gifted or something like a miracle tcket.i like the idea of a miracle ticket thats the ultimate gift really.

You are lead on a large funded project. You give four (4) gift tickets to the structural engineer in exchange for his work on the project. At the last minute the engineer and his family are not able to attend so he sells the tickets for full value. He had more than $1200 of his time in the project, but that is another matter.

Who if anyone is at fault?

Suppose you had a sucker all lined up to buy the ticket and when you met up with them for the transaction they asked if they may see it to verify it's authenticity, you hand it to them, they read "Gift" on it and then rip it in two They then tell you to Fuck off in in those exact words? whaca gona do?
