Satellite photo taken?

I don't think anything was deliberately blacked out, I think it's just a REALLY contrasty picture (not sure if they could correct for that after the pic is taken or not). If you brighten it up, you can start to see the patterns on the Center Camp tent.

I think anything that was black, or really dark colored, came out nearly solid black in this photo. You can also see the Yurt camp (I think) with all the weird white cone-shapes coming off the tops of the yurt (sun reflection).

We had a shade structure in our camp that was a kind of reflective dark-gray color (kind of a solar shield tarp), and it's a solid black square in the picture. No detail at all (granted, it's tiny too), but it definitely looks different in the Sep 1 photo. I think the pic just came out bad, probably why they didn't use it on the site. I wish it was higher resolution though..

Agreed; the silver tarps on top of our shade structure right behind the Hookahdome came out as being solid black as well.

The image used in Google Earth is much less contrasty:

I don't suppose anyone has a link to a jog or png of that one, do they?

Hey, metaphorge, do you have a link or KML to that location in google earth? I may just be bad at it or something, but I can't find those photos in GE.

Edit: Nebbermind, I found the KML linked earlier and figured it out from there. :)

I was able to zoom in on my car and my tent. After finding it, it was amazing to zoom back out and see just how big the footprint actually is.
Nice find HiH! :D

Like Shambala, I was able to zoom in where we camped at 8:30 & K. The helicopter art car is right down 8:30 from us.
My truck, with it's fire engine red camper shell, really sticks out.

Many thanks there HiH!!

Bump 'cause it's a cool link. Fun to zoom in and look at the city. Thanks HiH!

Has anyone found anything clearer?
My memory faded and I recall it being a clearer zoomable image, huh.

I like looking at the messages on some of the shade and tents etc

I noticed a red arrow shaped shade structure...it had me fooled at first, I thought it was a graphic, until I zoomed in...very interesting. Near 4:00 I think.
