You seem awfully riled up about something that, by all rational measures, should definitely be every bit as legal as alcohol.

The point is that it IS illegal. Balance your idealism with realism.

Gravity is real, Laws of nature are to be obeyed, Laws of men are Ideals. lofty things they think can protect against forces of nature like, love of novelty, or desire of change. and only under the force of threat, or plight of fear keeps them in place. That IS how reality looks to me. pretty realistic.

i guess your realism is well calibrated. so when are you going to fullfill your civic duty and start enforcing noise ordinances? its about time you did something about that.

A cop in Reno was sleeping off a nights drinking in his car and caught a DUI, that's bad news if they are so cereal that they don't even give other cops a break.

We have to have some way to uncover the undercovers, so- if you see a man acting suspiciously at the event ( you know, he's dressed, he isn't drinking or stoned, he isn't dancing and uses words like "yes sir/yes mam" )
& is clean cut/shaven ... he might be a cop. afaik NV cops are all straight ( unlike San Francisco cops ) The best thing to do is send over a beautiful young woman and have her offer sex to the suspected cop, she can search him for a badge and a gun & if he does have sex with her then you can at least be sure he isn't on duty.

Your burner idealism is not going to protect you from the world as various public interests bring thier social norms, rules, and regulations. So even though burningman was intended to be a place to help create a truely creative environment separate and somewhat escaped from all that, we learned thats not what people really want to practice... and well, others just cant cope with it.
