Why is the forum not notifying me of new posts on threads that I am "watching"? This has been going on for years occasionally, but now it seems much worse.
I checked my profile setting -- looks to be in order.
Elliot's Bicycle Service and Beverage Dispensary expects to be at 5 & G. Bicycles repaired, loaned and whatnot. Hours likely to vary.
I'm only getting a few notifications even though I'm subscribed for much more... *sigh* me and tech are not getting along today lol

Glad to see the change has helped. I think PHPBB has always had occasional hiccups with how it manages subscribed threads (though it should be minimal). We have ATOM feed support now (if your browser/email/newsreader supports ATOM newsfeeds, you should be able to subscribe to threads of interest that way too), and hopefully in the coming months we'll have full RSS support as well.
I believe the issue in those cases is that you failed to actually submit the post. It's a quirk of how PHPBB operates.
If somebody replies to a thread while you're composing your own reply, when you finish and hit submit the site doesn't accept the submission. What it does is show you those newly added posts, and then beneath it shows your unsaved message draft. The idea being that you can revise your post as necessary, based on the new posts. You can make revisions if you see fit, otherwise just hit the Submit button again. Word of caution, though, in a busy thread sometimes still more replies get made before you can revise your post and you get the same issue a second time (I ran into that a few times when ticketing information first became available). Until you see the "This message has been posted successfully" screen (which stays up for a few seconds before taking you back to your post), it hasn't posted.
I think that does happen sometimes, but i am talking about a glitch that occurs after submit.
When I try to return to the post, sometimes I can, but usually it has been sent and is gone. On occasion I can open the thread elsewhere and it posted anyway, but usually it's gone.
Just because it's only been happening since a particular version of the software doesn't mean it's not a browser-specific issue. I've not experienced the issue on my end, and it's certainly not for lack of posting.
You've not mentioned which OS/browser you're using, but there are a number of browser-specific issues out there. We're current as far as major releases of the site's software, but behind on a couple minor maintenance releases (one of which reportedly addresses a number of IE9 issues). That's in the works on the back end, but I don't yet have a timetable to give you for rolling that out.
