Well, if you are in one of the northern states (or similar climate), some way to stay warm in the winter is also needed (or migration to somewhere warmer). Anyway, shelter can be mandatory, is what I guess I am trying to say.

Modern medicine is a pretty good thing to have, as well. (As well as the infrastructure to support medicine. Which would include an education system.)

Let's take a look at the word..."community".

What it means to me is that I am part of a vaste network of creative, intelligent, somewhat anarchistic people. Ooh, and well armed, at that. I contribute, and receive back from said community.

It also gets one's butt out of a jam, should the need arise...
A pat on the back, from people you respect...
Crazed ideas & inspiration that might not have been hatched alone...
Provides a place to bounce ideas off of w/o getting smacked...

and more to the point...

Gives those within it an endless source of amusement.

So if your "burningman community" is dead...

We have six billion people on our planet? Lucky for me, I test at the 90th percentile for overall intelligence. This means that only ten percent of the planet are smarter than I am. With a total population of six billion people, this means that six hundred million people are smarter than I am.

I just can't deal with this! I just can't believe that I'm not number one! How can this be that six hundred milllion people are smarter than I am? I feel so worthless.
