Have to give props to the originator for putting this discussion out for his ability to deal with the obvious negativity to his original idea with grace.

Don't you dare put real security guards there. One of the most moving things about burning man is the difference between real world thought such as. "...If I do this, who will see/arrest me/give me detention/think bad thoughts?" It took me the last two years of attendance to really dig this, and I love it. NO REAL AUTHORITY to tell you what to do. (I mean unless you are really hurting someone or being really fucking stupid) But the freedom to be the freak that I truly am, which may mean I would love to fuck my demon-semon boyfriend while my best girlfriend slapped my ass really hard in plain daylight and delight that others were watching.
If you felt a need for security, and I may understand if some total asshole drunk person came in and was ruining it for everyone, then I think 2 things...
Moderators that are burners, that are gentle, firm, dressed like freaks or not at all, but there to encourage a great time.
Second, Burning Man, like a medeski, martin and wood show, tends to attract pretty aware, conscious, nice people. Occasionally, an out of hand wasted weekend warrior or whoever can fuck it up, but on the whole, you all know what I mean. My point: self-policing. Burners aren't going to let things get dangerously out of hand, just by the very nature of the playa energy.
So can the security idea, it's bad just by the very word. Helpers, moderators, whatever, but security. Shit, go back to the real world where security is revered. In REAL life, there ain't really any...
