I can just put the handset part right next to my left ear and turn it up on loud. I'll also be carrying headphones that go up to 140db and cancel out a limited amount of noise, just in case. I am late-deafended so I speechread very well. I used to work as a security gaurd and often worked on a loading dock, so I already have a whole bunch of tricks to deal with radios in extremely loud situations.
