I looked at the regional BM map.. and my state is one of the VERY few that is colored grey.. I am ashamed no one has stepped up to the plate. How do we go about going from gray to green?

What are you talking about? Your state doesn't have a regional contact? So go to Burning Man and then apply to be one.

Gee, I don't know, you could rely on yourself - radically or not - and use the internet (ie, google) to your advantage.

http://regionals.burningman.com/becoming_a_regional.html

You might want to find out if you like Burning Man (as I vaguely recall you've never been), and what all being a "regional" involves.

Invite your friends to a party, then burn something. If there's enough beer, someboby will eventually take off their clothes. Bingo, instant regional!

the real trick is to find someone with a big lot of private land...with no neighbors and recruit them into Burning Man

Jus don't get too popular. The Utah regional is on private land near almost nowhere, and we still have to have insurance and a permit. A few dozen folks can fly under the radar, but once you hit a few hundred, the default world takes notice.

I checked with the ticket people and it appears that there is only one single attendee from Nebraska that goes to Burning Man. I would suggest getting a six-pack of beer and having your own little regional event all by yourself. Another thought is to move the fuck out of Nebraska! Very Happy

I've always thought that someone has to make the sacrifice and work on the inside. Obviously Nebraskans need to be educated about Burning Man and I applaud gerlachedNloaded for stepping up to the task. Very Happy

Moose, you've forgetten one of our principles is radical inclusion. We may have to be a little more radical to include Nebraskans Smile, but we certainly can't exclude them!

Hey Boijoy, there's another thread under Regionals where we've worked through the membershiplist here and found a handful of burners who've come from Nebraska over the years - a dozen or so.

hey! where'd you get a pic of the neighbor kid? Laughing
yes moose, after experiencing BM, those prior Nebraskans realized they were actin a fool by living in this humdrum state and decided to move on unceremoniously to one of the bigger and better coasts.. wherein they realized they were just too hickish to fit in; and couldn't afford to live on said coast and failed, among other things, to pay for the cable bill which severed ties with the eplaya and all others permenantly..
and oh yes, they are still out there.. trying to figure out how to pay for a bus ticket back..
AFTER just one more decomp or regional.. right?!
