artist lookin for space to install 7' carved rosewood mobile

Postby ruth kneass » Fri Jul 17, 2009 8:26 pm

i am a returning artist to the playa.
in years past i have created nature inspired installations in the deep playa made up of driftwood, marble & rope.

this year i have created a 7' carved rosewood mobile that i would like to suspend in a spare, semi protected space out on the playa.

this sculpture has a very serene & calming quality, the shapes w/in the composition are shaped like tumbled driftwood.
this piece orbits slowly & sweetly.

ideally the space would be spare & handsome.
center camp is too bustling & visually robust for this sculpture.

if you know of any place that you can refer me to please shoot me an email.
i am ruth kneass @ ruth.kneass@gmail.com.

i have photos of this mobile from a recent exhibit at the marin headlands.

many many thanks,
ruth

i am not familiar with the use of this forum.
i am trying to reply to recent responses to my post:
1st reply:
i don't have a way to post images of my mobile.
i would be happy to email them to you or be advised as to how to create a link & a post.
i am a sculptor & not particularly tech savvy.

2nd reply:
regarding my use of rosewood.
the wood i employed was shwag from a custom carmel home built years ago the wood was rescued / salvaged & made available to me by arborica, a west marin artisinal salvaged wood mill outfit.

looking forward to making this sculpture happen on the playa,
sincerely,
ruth

Bring yourself and your art. You and it will find a home. " Seek and ye shall find."

Many places exist where you may display your mobile in a proper setting. I am first thinking of the Temple where spaces are made available for individual art. ( You must remove it by Sunday evening if you do not wish it to be burned.)

Some dome owners might appreciate an art piece hanging from the center apex of their chill spaces. When people start to finalize their plans they may PM you in this forum. You may get several offers, then you would have the opportunity to make your mobile mobile.

You can bump this post up weekly to put it in the forefront of peoples minds. In my mind, sculpture is just as valuable as music, or dance, or humor as an art form. Be not discouraged by the few...

When you carve rosewood, you must use a respirator. It's one of the nastiest, most poisonous woods.
It is probably not safe to burn either.
But it takes a nice finish.
