24 hour grocery stores in Reno?

Hey everyone!!!.....we're flying into Reno around 10pm August 30th and need to buy food/supplies before we head to Black Rock City....is there any 24 hour grocery stores on the way? :D

Raley's Markets close at 11 pm, except Keystone store that closes at midnight.

There is a 24 hour Super WallyMart on the Pyramid Highway north of Sparks, you can then continue on the highway which is 445 to 446 then to Black Rock City on 447. If you arrive during regular business hours there is a Costco across the highway.

Your best bet for finding a 24 hour store that sells everything you need is a 24 hour Walmart. I would search the Walmart site for various locations in Reno and see which one will have the hours that work for you. Call a few and ask for help in locating one nearest the airport or on the way to Gerlach.

I think that was what Playa Tom meant by "Super WallyMart"...(I ain't proud- I've shopped there. But those Nevadan barbarians don't sell the buck-fifty Foster's oilcans like our local 'Wally here in Plainwell.) I've been exploring Reno this last couple of trips after having fallen in love with Twin City Surplus, (and Mister Jellyfish's lair is nearby!) and I drove around looking for ANY grocery store to no avail...I'm not used to navigating "Western Style" cities, though. Bigtime Glitter Gulch thang goin' on in "The Big Little"!

If you don't mind swinging north a couple miles on US 395 freeway
you can take the North McCarran exit east a block.

Here you will find a 24hr Wally world next to a large 24 hr Winco
foods grocery. Note: Winco is cash only (maybe debit cards? or instate
checks.?)

Oddie Blvd East (exit just before N McCaran) has a large Savers
thrift store open till 9pm most nights & a Lowes (10pm?)

That Wallyworld is not 24/7, and it is tiny, but there is a Home Depot straight across the street (cheaper than Lowes,... just a little).

If you are coming from California, there also is a Superwallyworld north a few blocks on the west McCarren Exit.

There's another 24-hour Winco, at 9750 S. Virginia, off US 395. Follow signs toward the airport and pass the airport exit to continue 4 miles to Exit 61.

More convenient from the interstate, but closed 1am-5am are two Save Marts (ex-Albertsons) that are a 1/2 mile north off I-80.

Exit 10 is at 10500 N McCarran Reno, NV 89523) and open 5am-midnight

Exit 19 in Sparks is perfectly situated en route coming from the airport or the downtown casinos. It's off the "other" N. McCarran in Sparks, at the Iron Horse Shopping Center at 565 E Prater Way It's open 6am-1am (but may keep special burn-week hours.) They also were a post-playa recycling center for the last two years and stock up on playa gear like it was a holiday - even adding bicycles to the inventory for two weeks, and putting the water and beer cases right up front.

It's also on a heavy highway-retail stretch of McCarran. Last year, I took my ridesharer on the shopping expedition at Exit 19 after picking her up at RNO: Dollar Tree, CVS then across the road to Save Mart and Arby's (to go order for my first on-Playa dinner), then loop back to Exit 18 for In-and-Out for a pre-drive lunch. There's also a Travel Center (Truck Stop that welcomes non truckers) right off the Interstate at 19.

There is full prohibition at Burning Man this year. The DPW will confiscate any alcohol and consume it right in front of you---just for spite.
Most of the Walmart stores sell hard liquor, beer and wine. I would check to see if they do that 24 hours.

All supermarkets and Superwallyworlds sell liquor 24/7 in the state of Nevada, and any store that sells booze will sell it , when they are open.

And now the alcohol (beer excluded) is conveniently located at the front of the store in a separate area because the little punks were stealing it.

You're arriving around 10pm so by the time you disembark the plane, get belongings and transportation it'll be close to midnight. There is a wallymart and Scolaris Food and Drug store in Fernley which is on I80. Both stores are at the second Fernley exit as you drive east on 80.

And from the wallymart or Scolaris in Fernley you can jump back on 80 and go back WEST and take the first exit you come to which would be the first Fernley exit you past going east. Take that exit and bare right and this will take you to SR447. Theres a Loves truck stop and a humungus cement plant at this exit: just to give you landmarks.

Ok, so I'm resurrecting this thread, cause I have a question about some of these places. Are there any 24/hr places (such as Safeway, Albertsons, etc) that have one of those water dispensers? The kind you normally bring those 5-gal water-cooler type bottles to? I'm thinking it'd save a lot on gas if I were to fill them up my containers a lot closer to BM, but I'm probably going to be going through Reno at 2-3am, so pretty much none of the other normal water fillups will be open. I'm not sure I want to get water even closer, since I imagine places will start getting much smaller as I get closer, and I'd rather avoid big lines/waiting if I can.

I'm sure that if you find a large chain grocery store that they will have water. You can call ahead to be completely sure.

You can also buy water in Gerlach. From Jack Rabbit Speaks:

I'd vote for water in Gerlach (I did last year).

But given the hours you expect to be coming through at: the Save Mart at 525 Keystone Ave. (just south of Route 80 at Keystone) had a water service setup in the parking lot last year (2010)(along with 24/7 acceptance of recyclables). It took water from the store by hose and filtered in a huge machine, filling any size of container & RVs. Manager said it was an experiment for 2010. I had the RV there a few nights while waiting for key equipment to arrive at the UPS store; there was a Save Mart staff member in the lot through the night to run the machine as needed, along with the grocery store being open all night. I think they have one of those bottle machines inside as well. You can call them to see what they're doing this year. (775) 786-2150 I couldn't find an email address for that store.

Strangely, prices of many Burner useful items were cheaper at the Save Mart on West Plumb, just West of South Virgina (653 from the 395). Both locations had EL wire setups. I got mine from W.Plumb when Keystone was sold out.
