Sheesh.
Give it a rest.
You always look lovely.
Just fishing for compliments.

How To Be Random

A friend needed to do some randomly forged stock.
So naturally he came up with an algorithm that approximated randomness.
He uses logarithmic progression in hammer blows, going in one direction with blows next to each other and progressing to wider spacing.
Then flipping 90 degrees, then doing the same progression from the center of the bar to the end.
Then a change to 45 degrees.
Then helical patterning at 12 degree hammer strikes.
Then cross-latticing.

I have probably left some details out.
Let me know if you need more precise notes.

If you work sober get drunk and just go for it. If you work drunk...sober up an have at it. never was good at algorythm's. If you don't drink just substitute sleep deprivation at the right time. Be safe!

This gives you some idea of how this guy approaches his metal work.

Heh...

I just sort of hit it randomly and it seems to work.

Though I can appreciate that sort of nitpicking crazy. I've learned to keep mine under control for the most part.

For randomness I put the drawing dies in the hammer with the wedges on opposite sides so that they don't line up. The I move the bar around under the dies. Instant mess.

He was after reproducible randomness.
I think the idea somewhat offends him to begin with.

You should see the stuff that isn't supposed to look random!
