I think the mod Dork recommended in another thread is better to stop these scripts/bots. The mod where "new" users have to type in the letters and numbers they see in an image box. the image file generated skews the letters and numbers so an automated script can't pick it up. The big problem is that this place is virtually wide open with no protections on the forums. A script can sign up and post right away to many forums.

Also, another board I'm on, with the alphanumeric scrambler in the registration form, is getting hit by porn spammers, too. My guess is the bots are triggering the spoken link that allows blind people to register for sites and getting past the scrambler that way.
