Howdy all, its been two years since I graced the dead sea of Black Rock. Too long. Ok, cryptic speak aside I went completly alone in 2003. Yes, yes, lessons were learned, and friends were met. No love was had, but hey I'm a patent guy. Now here's the question: I don't want to go alone! I live in Auburn California, probably the most conservative place in the state and know one will go with me (wimper, splutter). So anybody want a young viral, long haired, Gumby lover in the mitst of their camp. I would hope so, I'm free people, and I will most likely be making my way to the Burn this year. Thanks, nutters.

Well, you're the second guy tonight looking for a camp to take him in. I wonder whatever happened to the Solo Collective. That was a going concern for a couple of years. When I was first thinking of coming out in 2000 I was seriously thinking about SC.

You're real close to Sacramento and Reno. There must be a group or two in those cities you could hook up with. Check the regional board.

Work your way through this forum and see who's looking this year.
Dr Pyro is from out that way--maybe Auburn maybe Grass Valley but the gold country area. He's got a fairly stable and long lasting camp (Barbie Death Camp and Wine Bistro) so you're not alone in that wilderness. There's a large Sacromento area contingent too, so that's only ~90 minutes away at most. From what I remember of last year's process, the whole theme camp recruitment is only starting. There are going to be people on rideboards who are looking to camp with when they get to BRC (she says pulling out of the handiest donkey) so keep your eyes and mind open and you'll find your opportunity.
Solo Collective morphed into SoLoCo last year--there was a split and I forgot what the other part got called. It's too good an idea not to return in some form.

Hey all,

The SoloCo disolved last year into various camps. It just got too big and unwieldy I think - and too much work for Mel and Grover (though they did an amazingly fantastic job with it.) There are a few of us around, the L-AFers, The SCARAB camp, The Pyramid Scheme... That kind of thing. I'm a L-AFer and just actually post a note that we are looking for a few more to join our ranks so check us out if you're interested.

Sand_Man, I'm in Newcastle and some of our contingent is from Auburn. Contact me off line or send a private message and we can discuss the possibility of you coming with us. We have been doing this for six years and BDC&WB is one of the better known smaller themecamps. We will be part of Wheeeee!ville again this year so we have not only ourselves, but our villagemates to consider if we're going to expand our little slice of paradise on the playa.
