Sort, because otherwise it will become chaos. We may or may not like the system, but if we don't keep it it will become worse than not having one.
Retire, because some of the stuff is old. We do want to have access to the wisdom of the past, but 24 pages of topics=1000s of posts and threads, intimidating newbies and cluttering up the place. It's sort of a hard thing--any system and any choice is going to be 2nd guessed. I'd say "anything pre-(chosen date) and more geared towards community and joking around. Useful threads are worth keeping nad threads about the philosopical yeas and neays of children (for instance) are issues that are gonna keep coming up again, so we may want to keep the old discussions and build on them. Maybe trying to prune to a pre-set number of topic pages (4 perhaps) would mean that we get rid of enough dead wood without killing the tree.
IMHO

The thread ending in 8574 has more views and more poll questions so I'd assume it's the one he wants to keep. But otherwise they appear to be identical and 8573 would be an ideal cleanup target.
