Hello there! My name is Deidre and I am a student at Academy of Art university in San Francisco where I am studying film. I like to think of myself as a positive energy and I am so honored to be able to attend BM for the first time this year! I spent my year outdoors last year where I worked with AmeriCorp in Northern MD and I loved it! But this year I had to return to the real world and ever since I've been following my dreams and going to school to become a director. I currently live and MD and am going to be moving to San Fran directly from BM! So this means, I'm taking all my things, driving across the country, attending the experience and then relocating myself out west! I'm very excited!!

I enjoy making art and riding my bicycle, as well as singing and being as happy as I can in this life! I can't wait to meet everyone this year! I am going to BM alone and although I hope to meet up with friends I would love make new friends too!

Hello! My name is Kye and I'm currently finishing up my senior year at Willamette University in Oregon. I've never been to Burning Man since it always occurs on my first week on classes, but I'm going this year because I'll finally be done with school!

I'm an Anthropology major and I'm currently working on my thesis which is actually about spiritual experiences at Burning Man. I thought I'd introduce myself here first, but I'm hoping to create a thread on eplaya asking about everyone's own personal experience with spirituality at Burning Man and how it differs from "religion". If anyone would like to share such experiences with me here or over personal messages I would be very appreciative! Ethnographic data is the core of anthropological research, so everyone's opinion is incredibly important to me. Hope to see you on the Playa!

As a documentarian who was first introduced to burning man by a documentary, I find I don't think spiritual experiences on the playa should be documented.
Or even a lot of much lighter stuff.

I think they are quite reproducible though.

Well I don't want to be that weird lurker that doesn't do an intro post, so... BunBuns (bunny ears and cheeky bottoms are a staple) - coming from S. Florida. Virgin burner with hopes for many more. The husband and I are travelers of the high sea, professional by trade - pirates at heart. I'm one tough cookie, but we're renting a land yacht for our first burn (trying to keep my cheeks fresh). Now where do we dock that beast? Life's best lived by the seat of your pants, so we'll know when we get there.

All of the info I've read, seen, watched, and listened to from some burner friends (with whom aren't making it this year ) has been heaps of help. I'm always an open mind and an open ear, so advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hope to meet plenty of crazy land lubbers on that crusty lake bed soon! So excited, I dream of a burning man!

I´m 23 years old and I´m from Brazil.
I sing in a alternative band and I use to go in festivals to sing and make conect with alternative people and mind evolution spirits. Last year it was my first festival out of Brazil, the Boom Festival, in Portugal. I went with my music and clown project and it was amazing.
After that I star to study a little bit about others festivals in the world and I heart about Burn in Man and I was in shock. Really wanna pass for this experience and know all of you. I think Burn is a unique meeting and different of everything in the world. I´m feeling that it will be a experience with no come back for me.
My real desire is participate with my music and clown project, but I have reading a lot about Burn and I don´t understand too much how can I do this. For what I read, I have to go for the first time to participate like a volunteer.
Well, I´m going alone, so any camp or any tip that anyone can give for me is awesome! Kisses of love... I pretend to go to USA in July or Augost. My name is Rob. Most people call me Flash. 2013 will be my first Burning Man event. I know a bunch of people going, but am not yet part of a camp. I'm from Illinois, 25 years old. Making a trip to Burning Man has been on my bucket list for a while and I decided to take action. Any advice or information would be great! Don't hesitate to private message me or anything! Welcome Lua, You don't have to volunteer at burning man. You will want to volunteer. Everything is provided by the participants. (Not by the organization that puts on the event). People come from all over the world to take part and enjoy the week. Read as much as you can on eplaya and you'll get an idea of how to get there with everything you need to survive. You need shelter, clothes appropriate for the weather, food and water. You may need to join a camp. Some camps provide food and water as well as a shade structure. There are many that welcome foreigners. Read the different threads and ask alot of questions. Find out if there are any coming from Brazil. Welcome......Ratty

I figured that. I'm one that does lots of research. I research items before I buy them so I wouldn't expect such an event to not need research going into it. I guess I will read the 10 principles* first.

Hiya fellow burners! I'm MSJ and this will be My 10th year! There is no place I'd rather be than with those I camp with each year!

I'm between LA and SD and travel alone to the burn, I find the 600 or so miles go by really fast, while the line to get in goes much slower...lol

I would really like to get to know more people in the default world, so hopefully this is the place to do just that.
