Making introductions. I lurked on this board a little last year and have been lurking like Chris Hansen around a playground since the lottery this year. This will be my second year on the playa my first year, while physically prepaired via experienced boyfriend I was in no way mentally prepaired. I observed a lot last year and participated in a few events, but because of my insane shyness I did not fully experience burning man.
This year I am letting my proverbial balls hang. I am bringing giftie necklases filled with playa sand. I am goodwil hunting for costumes, & have initated the beginnings of our small group's unofficial theme camp "Coon and friends". Due to the ticket fiasco we have only 3 actual camp members and two more just camping with us. Our goal was to have an internet porn simulator and Cthulu art car (for the handicapped participant in our group) Cthulu has been scaled down though next year he will rise bigger and better! (we are open to additional members with southpark themed ideas here at Coon and Friends)

Uhh... about me... I'm a marine bio major (hince the username .. does not refer to drugs) live in LA, love performance art, art (im rather creative but lack funds to create like a lot of what I saw on the playa), art, art, and distopian society. Oh ... and fire.

Hi I'm Cory.

My wife Laura and I will be going to the playa for the first time this year. We're very active with the Toronto regional community. I sit on the regional board of directors, am volunteer coordinating Mooseman (our regional festival) and am working hard on Rise of the Planet of the Moose, Toronto's Core Effigy project. Basically I'm way more into this than any newbie should be but it took me a while to get my shit together and actually get to Nevada.

We're camping with the Dusty Swans at 4:45 and Hedonism Hopefully.

My name is Loring from Los Angeles. My friend Ken and I are both very experienced, articulate and compassionate voyagers that could be helpful to those who are having a difficult trip.

We were hoping to stay at Fractal Village but it appears they may be closed. We have a full Sized Van and Tent and were hoping to find a village that offers what Fractal Village does meals, water, electricity, etc. I’ve been scouring the net and have perused the BM theme and Village list but they don’t list which villages offer these services. We not expecting anything for free and hope you can point us in a positive direction. Thanks in advance,

I can't tell whether you've also been through the 2012 Theme Camps forum here, but it's worth a shot.

Some are closed, but not all.

Camps don't tend to be listed or categorized by what they offer their campers, because they're at least 60%-70% focused on providing a unique experience or service to the city at large, rather than their own campers. That said, for sufficient work or fee, comforts can obviously be found. Shower and shade is a common minimum for the bigger camps, meals and water a step above that, electricity is least likely, but not impossible.

I had planned a trip last year but was caught off guard when tickets sold out, so went to Wasteland Weekend, a Mad Max themed camp-in event in the Southern California desert, instead. I don't live close enough to Toronto to be as active as I'd like in the local network, but I have gone to several Toronto area Decompression events, UndieComp, Santarchy (I was the Spanish Inquisition Santa and Saint Nicholas), Bunnarchy (I was the Steampunk Easter Bunny.) I'm also on staff for SFContario, Ad Astra, Anime North, Polaris, and have volunteered at several Worldcons. I don't have a ride, I don't have a camp, I don't have a clue, but that's what this board is for.

I've been lurking a lot since I joined. Now I'm packing. It, uh, appears I never de-dustified my boots from last year.
Everything else is good to go except for my girly-type wear. Ripping and re-sewing (partly) to commence shortly.

In no particular order, I enjoy episodic wind, dust storms, Irish whiskey, finding my way home in IFR conditions, Scrabble, long walks along the trash fence, and moments of surreality. So most of those needs should get met this year.

I've been wanting to come to Burning Man for about 5 years now but something always came up. In June I got back to England after travelling for 15mths and the first thing my friend said to me is "You're coming to Burning Man", so there you have it - I'm staying at Terminal Y camp in the Esplanade.

I love travelling, going to festivals and events and exploring my spiritual side. I'm just temping in an office and working part-time in a pub until after the Burn then it's project follow my dreams!

We don't have a camp to go with, but both of us are volunteering with Arctica at Ice Nine, so our camp of 2 will be around the 9:00 area. We're making over our tandem bike into a WWI bi-plane to peddle around the Playa, so look for us and our mini runway in front of our camp. Please reply if you'd like to hang out with us!
