Hi all,
I want a way to make Exodus more fun this year as last year was an 8 hour nightmare that I was not really prepared for. Let's say it was certainly not a great cap to the otherwise amazing burn.
I was thinking of ways for my shy self to interact with fellow burners in line and brighten everyone's day a little. I want to create a questionnaire to give out, one that would have awesome, weird and hilarious questions that would make people laugh, contemplate, cry...whatever. I want to send the info over to the BMOrg for them to use as well.
I'm not super creative though but I know you on eplaya are!! Would you be able to help me with this????

This is a great idea. Most people don't pack their coolers anywhere near accessible.

Last year I did have my cooler completely handy on the way out (for the first time) and was able to serve beer and pedialyte during Exodus and Motsky served ice cream(!) and we made lots of new friends, and ran into some old ones as well. There was frisbee and chit-chat and music . . . with an eye on the line of course. It may have been the longest Exodus I've ever faced, but I actually enjoyed myself.

DustyBubbles, you'll want to make sure your survey has a mailing address (if safe) or is short enough that you stand a good chance of getting it back. And make sure you don't hold up traffic. Sometimes the line moves suddenly. Though not usually.

I definitely see your point. I was thinking that I could just collect them right then and there. I will have a spot for e-mail addresses for those who want to see the results.

All I remember is we were waiting for 6 hours with lots and lots and lots of time completely at a stop. I was just thinking I could hand them out when there was one of those long pauses and get em back when there was another one or have people just return them to my car if they want, when they can.

If you run out of chilled juices to hand out, sunscreen (chilled or not, via small packet or even several squirts from a bottle) is another merciful Exodus gift. People's arms start roastin' in car windows.

HAHA - yes, I've been a silent observer for a very long time so I certainly see the LOVE of snark on this forum. Yes, I think one must have to have the ability to sift through that for the nuggets of helpful info that's out there.

I didn't participate in Exodus, but from the description, there was encouragement of getting out and connecting. I think. As opposed to Ingress, where the focus was on smooth line operation. So, you could be right. We have some GPandE folks here, one might chime in.

Usually that is my only hope. Though my lovelife is none of your business, yet.

As for the questionnaire, print up the questions on one side of the paper, an address to mail it to on the other, positioned so the paper can be thri-folded like a letter. Mark your vehicle so people can find it, a bandana on the antenna, set it on fire, whatever, tell the recipients where to return the questionnaire in person as you hand it out between exit pulses. I was in that line last year, there is plenty time to hand them out then, but keep the driver with your vehicle. Let's not lose sight of the real goal here, exiting. As long as the driver is ready to bump it up, you can be passing out the sheets, mingling, and the like. Some folks will kill time filling it out, talking to you, trying to find your vehicle or you in line to return it....maybe someone will mail it to you. If you pass it out to cars ahead of you, the pulse might bring your ride to you. The most important part of this, I suppose, for everyone involved, would be that you do this nude.
