Very worried that there is some sort of "tribute"

No matter your skills or interests, there's a way for you to participate in the creation and manifestation of Black Rock City, both at the event and year-round.

Very worried that there is some sort of "tribute"

If you don't like what you see, turn around and start walking the other direction.

is that so hard to do ?

I suggest you use the week leading up to the burn to exercise your 'humor' and 'irony' muscles. There should be plenty of opportunity on the playa.

Edit to add: Exercise your musical appreciation muscles as well.

If this turns out to be the plan...I will urge all who may be unhappy about it to show your displeasure by withdrawing from any volunteering.

Ya gotta tell us what sort of "tribute" you are expecting to see, if you want us to take interest in your hatred of whatever is possibly gonna bug the piss out of you.

There will be a Tribute. To Micheal Jackson, of course. In fact the King of Pop's demise is so much more important to us than any of that evolution crap that we changed the theme.

Didn't you get the memo?

What have you been smoking?

Michael's Royalty trumps our petty concerns. The world may have ended last month. We're just who's left after Micheal's rapture.

Who are you to decide what is and isn't left behind and why the hell are you so concerned about it? Seems like you are the one that can't let it be left behind. God, STFU. Shouldn't you be packing or something?

I'm not even set on seeing it. Looks like a big ol' clusterfuck, and a good opportunity to poke around (while most people are all in one place).

So THAT'S what those ladders are for. When I was little, I thought they all had pools up top.

A group of people dressed like Michael Jackson cluster fucking on top of an RV while the man burns.

Like I said, a good opportunity to "poke" around. Or poke a round.

Ha!

Ignore these rubes. There's a tribute every year, emceed by Larry himself. I am surprised that it never shows up on many Youtube videos.

I forgot, what was the tribute to last year? Henry Ford or someone? It's usually ironically post-modern in tone.

I can't imagine worrying about other people's music on the night of the Burn. Let alone posting about it.

Is that really what you're thinking about in the final days before you leave?

I'm thinking about about how much godamn fun I'm gonna have.

Right-o. Looking for reasons to be angry or disappointed or pissed off or offended, sometimes you will succeed. To your great dismay.

I just don't understand why this upsets people so much. Yeah, the MJ coverage has been way overblown and everyone is sick of it, but is it going to ruin your life if Billy Jean plays for 10 seconds before the burn? If it does then I feel really sorry for you.

And you don't leave pop culture behind, you just morph it into something less soul crushing

It'll be a ghostly debate between Robert McNamara and Robert Novak to see who will be hated more by generations to come. It'll be moderated by Walter Cronkite. During the breaks there will be a quick advertisement with Billy Mays and Gidget (!Yo quiero OXI CLEAN!). At the conclusion Ted Kennedy (ouch too soon?) will declare the winner.

Frankly I think a week being miserable in the desert would be worth seeing that.

I saw a Michael Jackson tribute at the Temple this year. It was a t-shirt and photo and people had written on it. Must admit it brought a smile to my face wondering if Deepspace saw it or not..
