Greetings!
Welcome to e-playa.
Yes, you are responsible for your own well-being. This is a do-ocracy. Read the survival guide. You need to bring or arrange resources to survive a week or more in a hostile desert environment with 100+ F days, freezing nights , or 70 mph winds. Many people fly into Reno and purchase bulky items like water, food, shelter, tent, bike, etc.. at discount/bargain stores.
Transport needs to be arranged. It's a 2 or 3 hour drive depending on traffic on a 2 lane road. Most people drive themselves and their gear. There is a ridesharing section on this site that starts in the summer. I believe there is a tour bus based in S.F. Green Tortoise I think...Twin Cities Surplus on 4th St. is a hitchhike pickup. Some burners hitch rides from Reno airport. You need to buy your ticket now, no sales at the gate.
This thread is for people who want to get involved in the event in some way. Your ignorance is forgiven this first time. Expect some ribbing and snarky comments if you continue to post general questions here.
