This is more simple, but make a "floating desert fortress" with PSI geared tennisball cannons, and take a sharpy to the tennisballs and put the burning man logo on it. everytime another art car comes by u shoot tennis balls "at"(dont actually put alotta effort at making a hit, just lob em) it. guys on the fortress wear jedi-like robes and allow in those who fire dance at night, and other random things, but OMG it would be EPIC

Lol all i wanna see is flying tennis ball cannons at other art cars, at a low pressure firing speed.

i had to choose the "awesomesauce" option, due to mixed opinions.

if you make a show of it, definitely.

ie: 2 "pirateships" that roam the playa, engaging in battle (with tedybear-cannons) whenever they meet (2-4 times a day).

since its only me and my friend going so far, i will have no crew, but it would be epic to 2-5 times a day roll them from either end of the playa to attk!!!!

It's too dry out there. Things don't biodegrade, they mummify.

Fighting Drag, I admire your spirit. Done right, this would be great fun. But I want to make sure you understand that (in my opinion) there is NO WAY you are going to lob anything at anyone who is not cheerfully anticipating it. That settled, I like the idea of two or more Declared Combatants battling with teddy bears.

I wouldn't use anything harder or pointier than teddy bears. And if you tie a glow stick to a teddy, you risk hitting somebody in an eye with the end of the glow stick.

Each pirate ship (or whatever) should know how many teddys they have, and keep a count, so none are left as moop.

Personally I think the idea of 2 "pirate ships" doing battle on the playa is pretty wicked. Can flash bangs be used to simulate cannon fire without creating moop? I know my 6 yr old would think he had died and gone to heaven watching this.
