Mindfunk, The reason I don't post EVERYTHING here is that there is WAY to much to explain.

My camp has always been extremely complex each year. We create a "realistic" adventure environment that is so unique that it wouldn't/couldn't exist anywhere else on the planet.

The basics is this:

Everyone who visits us receives a cool gift regardless of whether they participate in our adventure or not. The gifts are custom designed artwork made into a lamiated Badge that will last over 80 years. These make great gifts from Burning Man.

Our adventures have always been "Level Based". You start at the lowest level and progress through the adventure. Each completed level earns you another Badge designed for that level. You progress at your comfort level until you either quit, or earn the master badge for making it all the way through. The choice is completely yours!

We believe that a lot of people attend Burning Man to experience unique things. Whether it be to see unique art, or fulfill a Fantasy. We cater to the later. We have been doing this since 1999 with Section 51. Then we had the Inhibition Research Facility (Facility 463), Then in 2002 we created Haven. In 2004 we brought you Vortex Casino and The Black Hole, where we transported you 200 Light Years across the Galaxy to be experimented on by Aliens (If you could last 15 minutes, you made it). The Black Hole was a Computer Controlled Simulation (CCS). This year, Carn'Evil will be part "Live", and part CCS.

We create the adventure, and the participant sees how far they can make it through. Each level is a more difficult challenge than the previous one and everyone may stop at ANY TIME. They are not easy! In 2002 we had "The Six Phases of Haven". 212 people went through. NONE completed Phase 5 or 6.

This is just the basics of how our camp works each year. Each year we create a different adventure for the participants. They have fun, and we have fun doing it!

We still have openings in our camp. Because of the nature of our adventures, we try to keep a well mixed camp and screen members. The application is on the website for those who may be interested.

So I still have no idea what exactly I can expect when it comes to such things as "Surviving" 15 minutes of alien experimentation. Since it's an adult adventure and people got that with the first message in this thread I don't feel TOO crass for asking this, but: Can you get through this to the final level without having an anal probe or the like? I love puzzles, and riddles, and logic (I'm one of the privledged/psychotic few who finished the notpr0n riddle) and I love being a free spirit (Janet in RHPS, nearly nude every week), so I have a hard time passing up a challenge like this one. But then again I'm happily married and rather defensive of my shute.

I hate to start something like this and not complete it, so please let me know (PM if it's too mature or too secret, I guess) if this is something I shouldn't count on doing to the fullest?

Each area is a different encounter. The goal is to figure out what to do to be able to leave (Get the Key). Actually, all the solutions will be available in the Casino as part of the games.

"Take off top and Kiss the girl"? He-he! You've been peeking at the rules for the low level games in the Casino, haven't you?

All I can say here is that there are NO Anal Probes or the like. However, It's VERY intense and one must be open minded and adventurous. Even to qualify for Carn'Evil at the Casino games, I think it would be hard for you concidering your situation (married). But, then again, I don't know you and you can stop at anytime and you'll NEVER have to do anything you are uncomfortable with. It's all in fun.

This camp sounds awesome fun... question for me is:

If I complete the application and I am selected to join your camp:
a) Will I be able to partake in Carn'Evil as a game participant rather than a prop/guide?

b) how will it limit the amount of time I have to experience and participate in everything else at BurningMan, being that this will be my first Burn?

I'll answer question "B" first. Well, first burn eh? As a member of a Theme Camp, you'll be required to Setup and Teardown, regardless of who you join. It's being part of the camp. As an Esplanade Camp, we have activities 24/7. The way I have it worked out, everyone will take "shifts" of about 4 hours a pop. You can work all night or all day and take a day or two off. Or work a shift or two each day. It's up to you.

As a first-timer, you'll want to experience the entire Playa and you'd have plenty of time to do it with us. However, we have SO MUCH fun, you'll probably end up just hanging around camp a lot and messing with people. LOL!

Answer #2: Yes! Everyone in the camp will have to go through it before working it. Several reasons for this. 1.) So they can experience what others will be subjected to. 2.) To see if they can even do it. If they can't they will probably be staying around the Casino area. Hehe! 3.) For training purposes.

As a general rule, we don't eccept first-timers into the camp because of the intensity of what we have been doing for the last 8 years. We have in the past and they didn't work out. Once we get started, they do the "OH MY GAWD! thing and we don't see them again for the entire event. First-timers have worked with us though. Every year we get MANY people from other camps that love working at our adventures. Then, the next year, they officially join up with us. Every once in a great while, an extraordinary first-timer with special talents, skills, or abilities that would benefit the camp as a whole signs up and we take them. They work out great. This is why we screen the applicants so well.

Because of what we do we have to be very professional about it or we can tarnish our great reputation on the Playa. I hope you understand. I'm NOT saying that you won't be accepted because your new at all though. Please, fill out the application and lets take a look. We know a lot from a person by what they submit. We've been doing this for a long time.

Let me clear up a myth circulating. We are NOT a sex camp. We have a unique and fun adult theme like no other. The interaction is adult based, because of the challanges, games, and interaction. Thats all.

How can you already know that you will be on the Esplanade this year?

Well, I've had a interactive camp on the Esplanade for the last 8 years, My camp space is 100'x250' (way too big for non-esplanade), I've spoken to camp placement staff, and we have a joint thing going with 2 other LARGE Esplanade camps where we all are next to each other ( The Lost Penguins and Image Node ). They too have been on the Esplanade for years.

Our location won't be known until later, but we are always on the Esplanade.

Man, I would love to join up as a reaper. I've had experience in a couple local haunted houses, and delight in scaring people. There's just the problem that I'll be in Ohio during the burn. Oh well, it would be hell getting the scithe through the x-ray at the airport. (Yes, I can get ahold of a proper scithe.)

You know, tho... Carn'Evil may be just the kind of high draw anchor type of theme camp BORG is thinking of to put on one of the new "arms" of the camp, get people used to going off-E to hit the major gigs going on. And that may *not* be a bad thing if you're grouped with the right kinda camps. I also heard a rumor they were gonna make the Esplanade skinnier this year (just rumor, not the facts) so being off-E may end up being a good thing in the long run...

Maybe, but we've been on the Esplanade for 8 years now, creating different adventures each year and have grown fond of it. Also, there are 2 other latge Esplanade camps we need to be next to. The 3 of us talked about a Village but opted against it for now. However, staff will be placing us next to each other per our request. If all goes well, thats 250' - 300' of frontage and 250'+ deep combined. This might be too large to place off-E.

I'm aware of the new plans to place more E-class camps within the city and it's still a little confusing to us all. It's still not written in stone how they will do it also, so things might even change from now to then.

We'll just have to wait and see, but if we get a choice, we'll take Esplanade frontage as usual.

A large factor for where we want will also be noise. All 3 of us requested a quieter area (as opposed to ground pounding rave). My camp (carn'Evil and Vortex Casino) uses ambiant music, Image node does also. TLP has a small stage for open mic and accoustic music at times. Extremely loud sounds can kill our camps, especially mine. Once we get closer to "official" placement, we'll know more. But for now, we are planning for Esplanade space.

Whats your first burn have to do with anything? We'd love to have ya. Most everyone in camp are veteran Burners, a few of us well over 10 years, and we have some first timers also. You'd feel right at home and have a great time.

The choice is yours though, but if you want a home and family on the Playa, your welcome to join us.

Being part of a Theme Camp, especially one as established as we are, gives you a sense of "being part of" the Burning Man society. Theme camps are encouraged, especially for first timers.

Remember, Burning Man is a "NO SPECTATOR" event, Participants only. You don't have to be embarrassed to get involved just because you don't know what to do your first year. If you go on your own, you'll wish you'd joined a theme camp after about your first couple days.

We are a great bunch of people to hook up with. Please don't be intimidated by our theme, and you'll have PLENTY of personal time to explore the city. But at the end of your excursion, you'll have a "home" to come back to instead of just a tent.
