I'm not sure what I would add to your camp, but this promise I will make: I will bring over a couple of bottles of wine from our wine bistro to bestow upon the unwashed masses. Of course we likely will gather on Thursday for the fifth annual Meet&Greet at BDC&WB, and I expect that Wheeeee!ville (which for the uninitiated grew from the original eplaya into one helluva village and these people, none of whom I knew three years ago, are amongst my closest Burning Man friends) will be back and our camp will be domiciled there, assuming they will again have us. I guess the question I would ask is do you plan on having any interactive activities? Ivy had her belly dancing classes, which were very well attended; Tom [testesinsac] had his full-body massage and chill space; we took over, for this year at least, Zane's "Black Rock Body and Paint" and had the responsibility of painting any and all women's (and not just a few men's) breasts prior to Critical Tits; we had our fire cannon that the Rangers made us shoot off only on the open playa lest we incinerate our villagemates and about half of Gigsville; and so on. My point is this: besides yourselves, what are you going to do to actually make the citizens of Black Rock City visit you? I would think of a theme of some sort, and certainly a bar with a nice twist (for example, in Wheeeee!ville there is Smite Camp, and you spin the wheel to see if you get smited or not while negotiating for a drink), would be a fabulous addition. Happily you have eight months to figure it out. Let the process begin!

here in the year aught-five, year 20 of the Man, the year of borg2, all I see on this thread from some of the heaviest hitting denizens of the eplaya is.....

"gee fellas and gals, wouldn't it be swell if we all camped together!?!? We could have a bitchin' bar!!!" Nothing about "we could do some outrageous art together", no synergy. Some folks are talking about bringing their individual projects to the camp. But where's the WOW!?!? Where's the "we dominate eplaya, we can bring together the coolest art on the real playa"?

Maybe it's all on other boards, maybe it's all offline, or maybe you-all need to step it on up. Doc Pyro has (subtly) laid down the challenge. I'll be a little more direct. Where's the art? Where's the participation?

A cool activity I thought of ...

Back in the stone age when I was a kid, we had a TV show called The Mitch Miller Sing Along. Performers would sing songs and the studio audiance would sing along and families watching would sing along too. It was a great way to learn a lot of songs.

Well, instead of karaoke ... what if someone did a great big audiance participation sing along with EVERYONE singing ... at the same time. Wonder if it could drown out the thumpa, thumpa, thumpa. I will be people walking by will not be able to resist joining in!

That show had the "follow the bouncing ball" thing but a modern karaoke machine coudl work. And yes, that would be an AWESOME song to do once folks got warmed up and a crowd has gathered!

Just one more thing ... would be pretty easy to do with a small art car or cart or something, quiet generator, small sound system and karaoke machine a hundred feet or so into the playa from the Esplanade with the music pointed back and the people facing the esplanade so the sound carries that way ...
