Warning; boring anecdote coming up:

This one time at Burning Man… we were camped across the street from a large tent with an inviting sign above the door. Inside was an art gallery with lots of nifty paintings and sculptures on display. All G-rated.

While viewing the exhibits, I noticed a person walk right thru the back wall of the tent, and I realized there was a portal to an adjacent tent, with two sets of curtains so that only minimal light could enter or escape, even when someone walked thru.

I assumed there was more art in there, either non-G-rated or something with clever lighting that required a dark room to appreciate. So I walked thru.

Inside were rows and rows of rudimentary beds, just mattresses with sheets, maybe 20 of them. And on each mattress was a naked couple apparently warming up to make a baby.

I have no problem with people mating. It’s a sweet and harmless thing to glimpse. If a couple does not prefer privacy, it is no skin off my nose. But I was not prepared for an industrial grade baby assembly line, so I probably stood there slack-jawed a little too long – until a production foreman sauntered up and gently invited me to enjoy the exhibits in the outer tent instead.

Later in the week this camp hosted a Beaver Eating Contest, and two members of my own camp participated. But this was also a no-spectators affair, and so far as I know it was not web-casted.

Yeah, tripping over literal "fuckers" might not be good. Well, it would actually be pretty funny to be honest. I just love those "whoa, WTF?!!!" moments. They rarely happen in default world. Partially b/c I live in the suburbs (my teenage self would hate me!) and partially b/c I'm so desensitized from all the things I've seen/done. I'd like to go to Thailand/Cambodia. Or even TJ to some extent. Thankfully that does not happen in SouthEast Asia often, I hadn't seen it while I was there over a period of months... They're probably as discreet, if not more, than smart burners when it comes to sexual relations. They are somewhat like burners, naturally welcoming and friendly. Me and three German friends ended up at what we determined was a dragon boat practice party near the river. Actually, don't do it out in the open because it's Against The Law, and depending on the mood of the officers who spot you, you could end up with a fine or even hauled off to Lovelock for the night (as happened to 3 friends of mine when the cops decided that the space they were playing in wasn't private - for them, even though it was apparently private for the straight couples next to them doing the same thing who didn't get busted...). Doesn't matter if you consider it "legit" or not if the LEO's consider it "illegit", and they're the one making the call if they catch you.

It has nothing to do with sensitivity for most people, I've seen my share of 'exciting' scenes while running the largest pride events in North America. Most of the acts were illegal publicly and those caught were issued summons. Now when I went to Folsom St. (Folsom East in NYC no longer allows full nudity) they also had a no sex/ejaculation rule enforced. Folks there happily played by the rules there. Friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our time at Folsom, following the rules... why do folks feel like they should come to the playa where there are similar rules and disregard them?
