Average Dust Storm, Burning Man 2010

For those that have never been in a Burning Man dust storm here is just a quick clip from 2010 of an average event. The filming took place at Altitude Lounge, a 40 foot tall tower we build. At the top we have viewing platforms, couches, bar, and LED beacon. It's nice because when you get 30 - 40 feet up you get above all the large particles that sandblast your legs.

Beautiful video! I have to point out...remembering back...and since it hasn't really been mentioned here...Not all of the dirt out there is talc! And that wind will pick up small pebble size chunks. Creating that "exfoliating" effect. Bad for eyes...Bad for lungs..and a little painful on a bare ass...the latter isn't necessarily a BAD thing, but I went to the Temple of Atonement for that pleasure.

Getting one's ass sand-blasted is not really the problem. Facing the wrong way, into above-mentioned wind - ... ouch {wimper} Lesson learned: Wear at least underwear if walking into major dust storm. (thanks 12 hour dust storm in 07!)
