So yeah. I'm local enough.

That touches me,,,, tears,,,, truly well spoken,,,, an expression with which I believe many of us can relate.

Of course I exaggerated the numbers and some of those things I'm leaving behind on my way.

Unfortunately Google Maps has since informed me that I'm a dumbass and have mistaken kilometers for miles. As it turns out, I'm really just a stroll away compared to the figures I posted above. (Tho I do believe I've just felt my feet filing a protest over that statement. Maybe I'll stick with the flying plan after all.)

5000 miles last trip.

Flying in was such a horrific experience I've skipped two burns since because I couldn't afford to drive.
That's how hard it is to fly in.

If gas keeps going up, it could happen again.
My biggest personal expense right now is fuel, and it's gone up 50% so far, so I'm taking a hit every day.

Interesting thing is because of the lack of routes from here to Reno, there is no direct route, so San Francisco is the same distance from here driving.

I was hoping anti-M had done the math for me since we are from the same place, but it's 597.4 from my home in Ogden Ut to gerlach + another 15 or so miles to brc so like 612 to the playa

It's only 709mi from the playa to the best overpriced grilled cheese in the middle of no where. Then another 1,519 miles to go after that.

OR

Only 1,519 miles to the rest stop you just had to stop at because of all relentless state long advertising with nothing to compete. Then a minor 709 miles to the playa, baring a pit stop to play in the salt.
