dubstep isn't defined by just wahwahwahwah dunk tap

no, its not required, but you cant argue it hasnt been a main element historically. i suggest that, bare minimum, dubstep requires a 70 bpm feel, with an emphasis on the 3rd beat (often via some sort of snare hit).

mama fox, no hangups, i just think we disagree on what open-minded means.

I feel being-opened minded allows you to love or hate whatever music you want, but it seems your open-minded permits the genre-labeling of tracks however you like, which i contend is silly.

but for reals, i just like to argue about music, it seems like you dont care :wink:

Certainly the part that's way too repetitive for my taste, and probably defines 'popular' dubstep is the wahwahwahs, I would argue that it doesn't define the genre, rather, the other things you mentioned like the 70bpm feel and 3rd beat emphasis define it. It is half speed drum and bass after all.

JStep - I will definitely agree on the good system part. And the times I have experienced his music live was with my friend Molly so I enjoyed it. Not sure what to say about the "rhythmic music" part since I have not really figured out what it is I do not enjoy about his sets.

I grew up in a Hispanic country surrounded by music from my heritage so I would like to believe I am able to enjoy any style of music that has good rhythm but will have to research this deeper to be sure. Thanks for the food for thought

I like some music from almost every genre, but I'm having a hard time loving dubstep. I want to love it, because it's becoming so prevalent, but it doesn't make me feel all tingly, and when I try to dance to it, I get all awkward and wonky (wonk wonk). So if Dubstep is the next AOL, does that mean my gramma is going to be whomp whomping? So I don't hate it, but let's just say, I'm kinda happy some people hate it, because at least that means it won't be everywhereeeeee.

Thanks for that 16 Bit clip though, I liked that.
