As I ponder this possibility,,, just think what BM could be like without gubmint intervention? Now I would pay twice as much for that event!

The United States federal government shutdown of 1995 and 1996 was the result of a conflict between Democratic President Clinton and the Republican-controlled Congress over funding for Medicare, education, the environment and public health. It took place after Clinton vetoed the spending bill which Congress sent him. Thereupon, the Federal government of the United States put non-essential government workers on furlough and suspended non-essential services from November 14 through November 19, 1995 and from December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996 (see budget crisis). The major players were President Bill Clinton and the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.

Yea, and defund NPR.
With Big Bird, Scott Simon and Click and Clack out of the way, the world will prosper. Wait, NPR funding is nothing compared to what taxing billionaires and corporations will bring in.
Yea, shut down the desert.

hm. I heard that they would earn money, but not get paid until after people are back working to process the timecards.
Of course, considering that congress doesn't really like our vets anyway, it's not surprising that htey are now moving to screwing them when they are still on active duty.

That is also my understanding about military pay, but not for other federal employees. But a lot of good that does their families that are living paycheck to paycheck.
And I don't think you can say all of congress doesn't care about the vets. Just one particular part of congress. REPUBLICANS!

I'd submit there is plenty on apathy towards Vets on both sides.
it's not that clear cut.

More has happened for funding of VA facilities under the Obama administration than under any other administration in recent history.
