I for one thought that the banners on the Burning Man home pager were funny as hell.
They broke the 3rd commandment (principle)
Decommodification
In order to preserve the spirit of gifting, our community seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising. We stand ready to protect our culture from such exploitation. We resist the substitution of consumption for participatory experience.
There is nothing I hold dearer to my heart about Burning Man than the practice of Decommodification. That is what makes this so funny; they broke the Holy Law…….and the fact that some people freak out ………because that’s funny too.
