Sorry, I have a camp to setup. Our camp wasn't allocated early arrival passes, so I don't have time to volunteer for the for profit corporation.

- pay minimum wage to locals for 2 days of work. 400-600 hours x 7/hr = a grand total expenditure of $2,100-$2,800.

You didn't have a point. You're a Kool-Aid drinker. A simple, inexpensive, and easy solution like HIRING MORE PEOPLE is hardly worth your condescending sock puppet talk. We aren't talking rocket since here.

All the while the same old bullshit is fed to the "participants" without you there wouldn't be an event. Ya right, if everyone who actually did stuff at burning man stopped going, it would be a douchbag/sparkle pony meet up in the desert. The event would still be there, the portacrappers, first camp, the fire dept, the cops. They would all still be out there with a bunch of ass hats thinking it's supposed to be great.
There is a growing discontentment and one day we will take back our Burning Man.

OK, add on to that workman's comp and other liability insurance, payroll tax, the expense of doing the payroll and the expense of getting the money to people. Add about 30% to your math tea-bagger.

2 days?? the gate has people volunteering at it for about 18 days. 24 hours a day. Thats more like 4000 hours of labour, assuming a minimum of 10 people per shift. which would not be close to what would be needed in staff to have 34 lanes open. each lane would need at minimum 2 people.
