Regionals near Texas and Vermont?

I am somewhat new to Burning Man. I have done a bit of research on it, and I was wondering if there are any people in this forum that have been to a regional Burning Man near Vermont or Texas. How are the regionals different from and similar to the original Burning Man? Is a "decompression" a regional Burning Man? Also, what types of theme camps have there been in the past? Burning Flipside is in Austin, TX over Memorial Day weekend. It's the largest regional, and is supposed to kick much ass. I haven't been, but plan on attending next year.
