So, I'm guessing that that thread on the blatant fascism/groupthink of the mods is in quarantine. Unless, discussing that subject at even that level is forbidden and it's been yanked. I'm a little sad, because, well, it looked like such a lovely opportunity to beat up on someone... But I guess it also saves us some ugliness.

Anyway, I wanted to notice that thread's passing, because it had some meaning for me. Some small meaning. And it was kinda a shock to have it end that way. Shouldn't have been, but there's always that feeling that I've run off a cliff when something like that happens.

See I am also the last to know about such stuff.! good thing too Been a teste kinda bitch lately and am easy(er) to lure into a fight, where I often use way more firepower than necessary (is that even possible?) but yeh Fishy I also have those Issues with censorship.

I went out and checked on all the cutting I had planted from the lilac I trimmed.
seems some are budding. so yay?
I can't imagine they've grown any roots yet, so, are these buds just evergy left in the wood, pushing out, but not making roots?
They've only been in the ground a short time.
Any suggestions, as to how to nurture them to get some roots going?

Yeah you nailed it. chemical energy left in the wood. Remove those buds now. They are sending a chemical msg to focus on the Flowering, you want roots. use care not to remove the leaf bud(should be the more narrow budlets) Lilacs are pretty forgiving and only want to have moisture to root. (if no nutrients are present in the Cutting medium it will go faster as thwe rootlets are searching farther away in search of food.)#2 hormex rooting compound works but you already have it in the ground, better not to disturb it, (and rooting hormone is toxic to the forming root tissue) good luck.

Confounded knuckel-headed urchins! Yesterday I gave a perfectly good bicycle to one of the local gutter-rats -- maybe ten years old. Today he brought it back -- all four cables chewed off, rear wheel bent like a taco-shell, just utterly trashed. 24 hours. Sometimes... trying to be a good neighbor just doesn't work.

The bicycle demon's name is Justice, but I don’t think he is seeing much of such. The kid looks straight out of the movie Deliverance. Sounds that way too, but it is probably an impediment he was born with. His bottom taith don’ look ‘tall rett.

He told of rocketing down a mineshaft of a dirt road and applying the front brake, whereupon he went hammerhead over handlebar the rest of the way to the fool’s gold strata.

Frankly, I don’t believe the face-plant story, in spite of the road rash. I think he wears road rash like that routinely. I think his cousin vandalized the bicycle. All four cables look like a bear chewed them off with his teeth. The loose spoke didn’t break; it was torn out of the rim.

The cousin is barely younger, and he was along yesterday. (There were four of them total – one is an old friend, reasonably civilized for Clearlake, who brought his new pals, less so.) The cousin had a total meltdown right in my front yard, and it wasn’t the kind that children routinely have. Rarely have I seen any living thing so bitterly angry. So old.

It is so terribly sad.

But when Justice returned the thrashed bicycle today, he apologized for his brother’s behavior yesterday. There is hope.

And I had pretty good success with one a while back. That one became a regular bicycle repair “customer”. He was so fat the rear wheel of his bicycle collapsed whenever he tried to jump a stump like the other kids. Took me months to get him to crack a smile. But he did.

Of course, all this is pure self-preservation. I want those snot-spigots to consider me cool enough that they leave my hubcaps alone at night. Ten years and counting. I’m paying them Al Capone style protection money, and they don’t even know it.
