A belated happy birthday to the Kernul and Elliot! :coffee:

I now have a 12x16 clay chimney flue liner on order as well as a chimney cap with integral damper. And I finally tuned my lyre. I can take it easy the rest of the day.

Happy Boxing Day! (Who are we supposed to box?)

Happy belated birthdays to Elliot and Kernul Kilbuck, and happy belated ePlayaversary to knowmad!

I kinda feel bad for the biker thread guy. Yeah, it's a bad idea and people chimed in with solid advice and good information, but the poor guy probably never expected a such a wall of opposition. Hopefully he/she figures it out, and comes to appreciate the honest advice.

Meanwhile, it's still drink thirty...MOAR VODKA!

Hey, it's GH!! good to seeya pop in!
any reports from the playa?

Yeah, Trilo, I sort of agree about the biker guy. He's a bit of an ass hat, but, maybe it's because he hit such a wall of opposition.
I do get frustrated at some "bicyclists" attitudes of entitlement and power.

In San Francisco it's bicycles. And cars. And taxis. And buses. And peds.

Did I miss any?

Well being an asshole is as good a reason as any to shut someone down, but that seems way too sensible for the US of A.

Seconding the request for a report on playa conditions from Goathead. 8)

FWIW, the Sierra snowpack is 146% above normal for this date, and there has been snow in Gerlach recently. This bodes well for the playa as long as the rest of the winter is anything close to "normal". And besides, this will make the ride on the train through the snow that much more interesting!

Because the cable cars are on a track, there's limits to their obnoxiousness....

*walks in, wearing corduroy and elbow patches. A groan rises from the crowd, as they realize they are about to be subjected to another English lesson*

Yes, people, English is a rather imprecise language, so we ought do our best to avoid misunderstandings. Now, about this bicycling-to-the-burn business.... Please watch the blackboard:

Image
This is a “bicyclist”. After using the word “bicyclist” in a sentence, you may shorten it to “cyclist” so long as the context remains the same.

Image
This is a “motorcyclist”.

This is a “biker”.

Class dismissed.
